Pet Peeves

Featured Replies

Do you have any pet peeves, or just common things that you strongly dislike?

Discuss here! :P

A few of mine:

-People with terrible taste in music (I know, I should be open to everyone's opinions; but seriously, who can possibly enjoy listening to

?)

-When people use the word "gay" to describe things other than homosexual people... such as songs, movies, books, or just random things that they don't like.

-Human clothes on pets

The dirt path between home plate and the pitchers mound found in some baseball parks:

FINALLY! Someone understands my pain! I do have a possible explanation for why it's so irritating to me, but you wouldnt be interested in that...

Now I am. :P Tell, tell! :inquisitive:

Okay okay, but its kinda a long story....

In the 2001 World Series the Yankees were pitted against the up-and-coming team the Arizona Diamondbacks. The D-Backs won the first 2 games at home. When the series returned to New York the Yankees won all 3 games including back to back nights of tying a 2 run game by hitting 2 run homers off of Byun-Hung Kim.

Going back to Arizona the Yankees were up 3 games to 2. Apparently momentum meant nothing as they were crushed brutally in game 6. So it came down to game 7 in Arizona. (A ballpark with a dirt path like the one above)

It was a teeth-grinding pitchers duel between two of the best from our time, Roger Clemens and Curt Schilling. The game was tied late when Alfonso Soriano put the Yankees ahead with a dramatic home run. Now it was to be left up to be closed by the greatest closer of all time, Mariano Rivera.

Rivera got 1 out fairly easily. Then a single. The next batter attempted to move the runner along by attempting a bunt. It was awful.

The bunt slowly dribbled up to Rivera, who then turned to make the throw to second, which Jeter would then toss to first to end the World Series. But something happened. The ball came up to Rivera quicker than he expected due to moving faster on dirt rather than grass. Rivera got an awkward grip, and his throw sailed by Jeter, into centerfield. This allowed the tying run to score, and one runner to be on second.

Then Luis Gonzalez came up. Hit one over Jeter's head. Diamondbacks win. I die a little.

So because of this horrible outcome (quite possibly all thanks to that damn dirt path), I have a pet peeve with those dirt paths. if it wasnt for that one, Rivera would have made the throw, and I would have been able to look at the colors green and purple again.

Hmm, well, I just think those little dirt paths are weird looking. :P

Okay I have alot of petpeeves.. But ill just name two.

1. The sound of a broom sweeping carpet.. it just makes me cringe.. eeek

2. *this is my fave peeve*.. When people ask. "Are you okay" after you just got done puking cuz ur sick.. I know its cuz they care, but im thinking in my head.. "NO SHIT IM NOT OKAY I JUST PUKED" Why cant people be like, "do you need me to get anything for you like medicine or call someone..

Incompetent people who think they are the shit....

Incompetent people who think they are the shit....

Actually, one of mine is using "the shit" to mean "great", and overuse of profanity in general. :dozey: But you're right, those people are really annoying, and they're everywhere.

Other things...

- Rap. All of it. Even when it's not about something disturbing.

- People who knock on my door so hard it sounds like they're trying to break it down with a sledgehammer. (Everyone I know either does this, or knocks so quietly I can barely hear it; it's weird.)

- Spongebob. :dunce:

- People who scream excitedly when they see a wild animal, immediately scaring it away. It seems like a few of these people show up whenever I find a wild animal anywhere.

when people tap me on my shoulder. i feel like punching them in the face.

Oh WOW that's probably my biggest one too. I just thought I was a weirdo. But yea, I hate that with a passion. So irritating.

Dirt paths to the mound seem to subtlety annoy me too. Just the fact that they are irregular and serve no purpose. And 2732, are you a Yankees fan? I'm a Pirates fan, but I've been watching the Yankees play each of the past few days because Nady and Marte (who they just traded the Pirates for) are two of my favorite players, and I want to see them do well. So I guess now I'm a bandwagon Yankees fan, along with another 40% of America. :\

i can't STAND anyone reading over my shoulder, espeically when i'm writing something or i'm on the computer. if we're all looking at something, i have to stand up just so they're not looking over my shoulder.

but my biggest pet peeve of all is people touching or coming close to my ears with their hands. i scream every time, no matter what. and if its a person that's doing it for a laugh and they already know i hate it, i get REALLY pissed. i actually punched my friend once because of it. i think all of that is because i had a lot of ear surgeries as a kid and docotrs and people were always looking into my ears, but hell, if anyone touches them, theyre dead meat. i don't even have my ears pierced :P

People reading private stuff I write. I HATE it. Just wish they'd go away :P

Also when people read aloud or make me read aloud. I don't like that.

Girls who don't have pierced ears = nonconformist, but in a very "state of nature" kinda way... hot. :P

A pet peeve of mine is when we're out of milk/bread/pepsi. Like now.

But of course, when it's a Chrissy fanfic, it's okay, right? :dozey:

When people repeat themselves for no apparent reason......................... :P

And Girls Aloud.:P

*At first glance, I thought this thread was entitled "Pet Perves"!!

On this forum, that almost would have made more sense. :P

And yeah, people staring over your shoulder is really annoying...I can't do anything, at all, if someone is doing that to me without permission. :veryangry2: :P

Alternatively it could be something to do with the mischievous ghost in Harry Potter!!:P

Dom Joly featured that very thing on one of his recent TV shows. He got an actress to deliberately look over people's shoulders in a cafe to test their reactions!! Maybe you can find it on YouTube.;)
