Did Chris write this song for Jonny??

Featured Replies

There's a video on youtube of the band singing What If.It was put up by ArGabyta.

At the beginning Chris says something like, some people dont understand if you write a love song for your guitar player,so you say you wrote it for a girl.

Has anyone seen this video. So did he write this song for Jonny??

I never heard that nor saw the video...I always thought he wrote the song for apple since he used to play the song with an apple on his piano....don't know though..

he might b joking...he joked about yellow and the yellow pages so this could be a joke as wel

the yellow pages where a joke? I thought he ment it seriously!!!!

He was probably playing up to all this "gay" rubbish.;)

Of course he did!! Green Eyes was also written for Jonny.

:sneaky:

he was talking about green eyes right before they played what if in a private toronto concert. here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NIFnZcphiI (also features chris goes slashy :D)

He's always joking about it, throwing in "jonny you are a rock" and things like that. But I'm positive a joke is all it is. Early reviews said it was about a girl he knew in the U.S. I believe.

He did say that.. his exact words (kind of) were.. "Green Eyes is partly about this girl I met in America and partly about our guitarist, Jonny"

Exactly. Chris loves to mess with us and joke about his "love" for Jonny.:laugh3:

i think chris is just being a funny bunny. but chris+jonny=

funny bunny?

:dozey:

Whatever :dozey:

They love each other and I know it :sneaky:

Why does everything have to be in a box anyway? Why does a song have to be written for one person alone? We don't know who or what or why that song was written.

But for the record, Chris spouts bullshit because he doesn't like to talk about what inspires his lyrics, so he probably was just camping it up. But it IS possible to write a song about a friend without it meaning anything.

Ya I know what you mean, lots of artist are like that actually. But it would be really cool to know what Chris's lyrics are about!!!

Oh yeah me too, I just mean that he's never going to tell us, he storms out of interviews when he gets asked (:P).

Ya i know, he always makes a joke when he gets asked a serious question :D But people know that there is real seriousness behind his lyrics. He's very mysterious

It's a total joke.

'What If?' is chris being his paranoid self.

He said it in an NME interview just before X & Y was released!

it went something along the lines of this:

NME: Your song 'what if?' is that about the fear of losing something or someone?

Chris: Absolutely! - You know at the moment we're all laughing but what if this car rolls over in 50 yards? and we die? it's about the irrational fear of waking up one day and thinking "shit" - I've lost everything. I'm constantly thinking 'what if I walk into my house one night and find out that my wife doesn't love me anymore? or that my friends don't want to play music with me anymore?' y'know?

- I'm sorry if it's not word for word,, but I'm pretty sure I've quoted chris' answer pretty much right.

OH ALSO! it was the same interview where chris said that "X & Y" should be the last coldplay album

Whatever :dozey:

:smug:

Exactly, in every televised interview he's ever done he always replies with a joke like... interviewer: "what was your inspiration for this album?" Chris: "umm...mostly porn."

And if the interviewer keeps asking Chris will throw together a half-ass answer and maybe branch off and talk about something else. It's frustrating though because half the time you don't know if his answers are serious. like... did the title "high speed" really come from the washing machine?

Hahaha I know what you mean! Ya it is frustrating when you dont really know they are or not. But you know, we will probably never know where his lyrics came from and what not. I think that they are personal to him, and you know how he never likes to talk about his personal life.

:laugh3: I've always wanted to know if that's true or not
