August 21, 200817 yr This thread is for everyone who wants to be or is a part pf the philly sign gang. This is meant to keep us organized so noone is confused when the day of the show comes around. Lets be the best crowd we can be! ----------------------------------------------------------- Yellow: http:/www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmxvCvnB1Wk
August 21, 200817 yr like i said before, can't print, but if you need some more passers, i'll help!!! hm. i'm trying to think how we could get everyoneee to hold up their signs. maybe a letter on the back like dave said.......
August 21, 200817 yr I was kinda thinking we could have a supplement and staple them to the front of each sign. Of course it would be more to print, etc. But I think those of us who said they would help pass out but not print should be in charge of that. The show starts at 7:30, so I was thinking maybe if we showed up extra early, we could have a group of staplers to put the supplements on there. That way the audience will know what's going on and there'll be better instructions as to when to hold the signs up. I'd be happy to write up a letter to attach. What does everybody think? Dave
August 22, 200817 yr I wrote up something REALLY quick. It's a complete rough draft. It litterally took my 2 minutes to write. But you can get the jist. We can collectively edit. I apologize in advance for any spelling/grammar mistakes. I never got a chance to proofread :) Dear Coldplay Fan, On April 6, 2006, Coldplay performed the last show of the American leg of their Twisted Logic tour right here at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. Thanks to the hardworking and dedicated fans from the message board on http://www.coldplaying.com, the band was greeted with thousands of fans holding up signs reading "USA Loves Coldplay." Over two years later when Coldplay returned to the Wachovia Center on their current Viva La Vida tour, fans once again rallied together to present the band with a sea of signs (this time reading "USA Still Loves Coldplay" and "Viva La Coldplay.") On both occasions the band has expressed their sincere gratitude, either by ripping up a sign and reversing the order of the words to read "Coldplay Loves USA," or performing a special encore. Since the band has added a special second date in Philadelphia on the tour, we at the coldplaying.com message board feel it is only right to continue this Philly tradition by once again presenting the band with signs. We ask that everyone please participate by holding up their sign after they perform the last song of the encore. Thank you very much and enjoy the show! Sincerely, The Philly Sign Crew I also feel like we should mention something about Oxfam possibly.
August 22, 200817 yr ^^^ sounds good to me!! i agree about the oxfam thing too. :P hm. i don't know how early i can get there though. :uhoh: it's stil preeeetty far away though, i'm sure it'll work out. :D
August 22, 200817 yr Pete from Oxfam got us in early and we passed out their literature with the signs the last show.
August 22, 200817 yr Yeah that's true. Should we try and contact Oxfam again? If we're stapling a note to the signs, we could just as easily package an Oxfam booklet with them. Sean, can you PM with everyone who signed up thus far? Dave
August 22, 200817 yr i also will help you people and even i can't say whether i can print all the signs or not. because last time i came up with very low number because of the money problems. so i'll pass the signs. but i wonder who will pay the money for this.hmmmm....... or you should tell us some alternative to print large amount of signs so that we all can do that. and also is there any new creation of signs this time? i am learning photoshop so i can help you people in creating them.
August 22, 200817 yr Do you think the signs should say "Viva La Coldplay" or "USA Loves Coldplay" or possibly something different? It'd be a good idea to either do a play on a song title or something really generic. But I dunno what else there'd be to do! Also, I realize money is going to be an issue. Does anybody have any ideas on a fair way to handle this? Dave
August 22, 200817 yr ^^^ no idea. :anxious: but i think for the signs (if we get this done), they should say 'USA Loves Coldplay', so hopefully the boys will remember. :D
August 22, 200817 yr Ooh that's an even better idea! After all it is a Philly tradition. My vote is for Philly Loves Coldplay. Anyone else? Dave
August 22, 200817 yr I vote for PLC, too. It kind of singles us out and maybe we can get a special nod somewhere. I also have several copy machines at work and could prolly run off enough for a section or two. I'd just have to stay late one night and do it rather stealth-like, lol.
August 22, 200817 yr Haha yes, it was great! After all this is a PHILLY tradition! Of course Coldplay has alot of dedicated US fans, and I'm not trying to take anything away from them...but Philly fans ROCK. Also, can we get some sort of agreement on the attached supplements? Dave
August 23, 200817 yr Author So srry I haven't been on. Philly loves coldplay sounds awesome for a sign. My comps slow so im on a sidekick. at the show in july security was pretty mad about having to clean up signs so I want to contact the wachovia center and volunteer to clean up signs after the show this way they'll let us in for sure ill be back on tomorrow to help sort things out. Remember if you want to be part pm me with your email adress and section.
August 23, 200817 yr Hey! I'm volunteering to be a part of this! + I was thinking "Philly Loves Coldplay" but went and read all the posts and I'm glad to see others thought of + agree with it too! I def think that's the best bet for our signs. Also.. I'll help pass them out! + with the note on the back.. I think it might be a little bit too long.. people may not feel like reading all of it and then they may not know when to hold them up. I think we need a somewhat shorter message that gets the point across.. like maybe "Hold this sign up after the last song of the Encore. < larger font Please don't litter; dispose of this properly." < smaller font
