On the Eve of Armageddon...

Somehow, watching the news, and having music as a filter (xyz / headphones) makes it all a little more hard to watch?

I was listening to what for me is one of the most timeless pop tunes ever recorded, Little White Shadows, while watching the current mess in Israel unfold.

Do we create our own fate or is it all pre-ordained? (learn more at the church). Is the world just helplessly lurching forward as a mere witness to the future unfolding, or are we in control of our destiny, as a race of beings? Do we have a choice as to whether or not we are going to kill someone?

"If you ever feel like somethings missing, things you never understand" Probably one of the most profound lines ever written, in undoubtedly one of the best pop tunes ever recorded, about a very common a core human drive... why the fuck am I alive?

If humanity stopped the party of materialism for one micro-second, and honestly asked that question, then things might start to change, but the way it is, is like: no insane world and life destroying capitalist system to keep them occupied / then they have no reason to live? To them, they have no purpose for life other than that (welth accumulatiuon), so in a way you are threatening... their God.

"God" doesn't just live in holy books, flowers, rocks, wolves and you, but also apparently, in money. Mankind has known this for thousands of years, which explains why we worship money. We create temporal gods out of everything but God. If you look at our current collective situation, and at how we have dealt with past problems, The blood in Gaza today looks ominous.

In World War two there were 50-60 million dead in all? World War one killed how many? And all the ethnic cleansing and tribal zombieism which has plagued the world since forever?

The difference between 2000 years ago and now is... not a lot in all respects. Primarily that of conscious or spiritual evolution to be specific. But maybe it works like this: maybe the world is a training ground for spirits and reality is just a constant rehash of everything that could ever happen, only all the actors, scenes, times, and places keep changing infinitely forever.

Makes sense to me.

And may The Chris be with you as you scan the horizon for some sign of humanity wandering these lonely places, in these modern times.

A good Idea

Hi Nikki,

They are amazing and an inspiration to so many. This is a pretty cool site also, lots of interesting stuff built in. I am a musician and don't have a lot of time other than to rant occasionally, which they gracefuly let me do. Check out the home page.

Rob / Vancouver

Hello Nikki! Glad you could jump on board, and keep enjoying the tunes!! Maybe music is our savior after all - it brings home feelings that soften a hard world, and diffuse some of the intense rhetoric floating about in the waves being broadcast.

Rob - on the matter of why people do what they do - it's conditions and circumstance, and an echo of behaviors past that leads to some of the behaviors in a given time & place. A revolutionary finds it hard to not be a revolutionary. A pattern of strong-men as the image of power to ascribe to is unfortunately a pattern as well. But when the eyes of the world fall upon these monsters, the attention once focused, causes those who understand and live by accepted civilized behavior and human rights to eventually put a stop to it.

But sometimes, a successful culture sometimes gets hijacked by those who take advantage of the positions of power by using an emergency or horrifying event to persuade otherwise rational members of society into thinking irrationally and acting in accordance with their demands.

So, to take away the arguments for hatred and war are the most powerful ways to prevent war; to support those who consider their thoughts carefully and rationally in every country and place. Poverty, disenfranchisement, occupation by another, and the radicalization it causes is one problem. Another is the patterns that exist, and the lost sense of dignity that leads some to the extreme, or tolerance of extremism. Ending poverty, respecting all human rights, and treating individual or group acts of violence within a region as criminal behaviors and criminal actions, rather than acts of war - this seems a key component we in the U.S., and Israel have missed. The natural reaction to a rocket attack is to retaliate, and with good reason! But to blow up whole buildings or sections of towns, or to mass arrest everyone is to miss the point of diffusing the underlying causes, and by retaliation of this nature, often escalation results, as a great many innocent citizens get hurt. It's partly the result of poverty that drives people to the extreme; partly the result of propaganda, but propaganda only works on weakened individuals. A sense of injustice and the sense of lost respect has a lot to do with why some individuals act the way they do. But once radicalized, it's hard for those few in the camps to return to normal..

A cool head is necessary to make progress and lasting peace, and there are many who want to prevent that as well, since they remain powerful individuals only if chaos prevails. It just seems to me that building less walls, and improving the lives of everyone makes so much more sense. So, I've come to realize the need (if not necessity) for honest, educated leaders in every nation on earth who operate by rules of fairness in their actions and have attained positions as representatives through honest means. Checks and Balances. Given the fact that there was little justice in the period of empire building, and WWI resulted from power-lust for greater empires; which led to one set of empires holding sway of the others, and an unfair agreement at the end of the war. Couple that with an unregulated market which invested wildly in overinflated stocks, an unpaid war debt foisted upon the loosing empires, and some disgruntled individuals who were ready to seize power if things fell apart and people, in their frustration and disillusionment, turned to those who offered a solution (sold with all the dreams people wanted to hear) - hence the rise of the extremists, and the awful things that took place. Fear, resentment, economic recovery, and diligence to one's duty (regardless of the task) had a big part to play in it. Anything to save one's livelihood, and those who took over used mass manipulation so skillfully, it's what can happen if we're not careful.

Poverty is unnecessary. Some have argued that there just isn't enough to go around. Others say it's hopeless because the world's citizens will simply multiply out of control. But given the chance to govern themselves, a new start in life, human rights, and hope and opportunity, there's every chance in the world we're on the precipice of a new beginning! When women get their rights and have the opportunity to learn and grow, a sea of change begins to occur. We have the technological know-how and the materials to make the globe more productive in areas of poverty, and we can do this with the maximization of common earth elements (safer, ubiquitous materials), and the minimization of rare and risky elements. Why not desalinate water to irrigate the deserts near the coasts? Even inland - pump the water with wind or solar?? Given the chance, once people have boot straps, they pull themselves up - so it's only necessary to set the right conditions for improvement.

I think it's all in the mix - what we do individually, we do collectively as well. Even for ideas to arise simultaneously tells us something - that there are so many common threads to our thoughts, and we often, through communications and interconnections, work on parallel planes of thought at times; and at others, it is necessary for individuals to break from the frameworks establish and think "outside the box" too. But it's often the interplay between people that creates the conditions for a set of thoughts to occur, so the two are inseparable.

Balancing individual desires with common social concerns is where we need to go as well. True - too much individual "peacock" displaying leaves the whole group vulnerable to some disaster - I have to agree there! And to understand ourselves is to understand another human being, thousands of miles away.. How would any one of us react if let's say the economy were in shambles, we lived in a building damaged by bomb blasts, and there was no certainty of who was in charge, but there was less crime and chaos under a warlord than under an occupation.. All our leaders really need to do is to put themselves in the shoes of those in these places, and then humbled by the experience, go about creating policies that truly address the needs of those of us in these situations.

An in the end....

When I started this thread, I did not know how things would unravel, but I knew that shadowy image somewhere on the road in front of me, was actually Armageddon lurching into view, manifesting in this world, Whatever that may mean to you, to me it means change. It means God will reclaim what is Gods own creation, it is not ours to trash as we please anymore, and only if you can make a buck while you are doing that also (please). What a fucking nightmare we have wrought on this planet. There is no hell good enough to punish us for how we have desecrated this paradise.

Because that is what it is and always will be, a paradisaical creation, floating forever in infinite space. I don't know about you, but I figure there is something that made all this "stuff"? Right?

About 8 months ago I thought it unseasonably cold, so I googled: is it getting colder? It turned out, at the time that the average temp for the past 12 month period dropped .5 / .75 a degree, wiping out global warming temp rise for the past hundred years.

I believe in global warming data and theory, but maybe after centuries of getting warmer and all that previously "locked up frozen water" now circulating freely again in the liquid state... maybe now the world ecosystem has reached a "saturation point" with liquid h20, and that has caused a tipping point in the global temperature now so that instead of everything just getting warmer.

maybe now we will all freeze, and it will be too cold to grow food?

Forget about fixing "the world economy" because it's like trying to saver the fucking Titanic, on which was my great grandfathers family incidentally. The current world economic "model" and the mythological financial Gurus who brought us derivatives, sub-prime-stupidity and all the other cast members in the "masquerade of fools" now running the world should all be summarily shot in my opinion. Where's Trotsky when you need him?

So the natural environment may be on the verge of a catastrophic temperature plunge which no scientist has predicted except the guy who made the movie Day After Tomorrow...

And the world economy is, in my opinion in an unrecoverable nosedive, from which it will not pull out of, because the entire foundation upon which it is built is rotten, twisted and poisonous to all life.

And if that were not enough to make you crack a beer and light up a butt nervously (I don't do either thank God), then have a good look at a little piece of real estate named the Middle East.

What the fuck goes on there I ask you, if nothing more than institutionalized generational hate on the part of the Muslim world directed at the Jews and any one else who does not agree with some one else... cutting your head off... because you like red roses and their God doesn't allow that? Good fucking night, I have seen it all now. Go see the movie" Kite Runner", educate yourself about Afghanistan, Islam, and having sex with little boys. (ostensibly condoned by Allah, why not eh, Islam seems to condone everything else anti-life and unhappiness in this world. What's wrong with this picture?

And on he other hand you have the Jews. Einstein was Jewish, and he was pretty cool. When Einstein had trouble with an equation (God would not speak to him), he would play his fiddle, and later he would "get it". My point is, don't threaten the Israelis because they will fight and die before dying without a fight.

And that could be a nuclear conflict, because Hamas, Hezbollah, Syria and Iran all want Israel wiped off the face off the earth, just like Hitler, only these creeps may get the bomb soon.

Happy New Year?

I'm going to put some of my music up soon on the web, I hope you all find it very boring and pathetic.

So may the Chris be with you as you wade through the now flooding basement of your soul wondering, how did everything ever get so out of control and when did we lose our humanity?

ps. It is a relief to be able to shut out the madness of man and enter the world of Coldplay, thank you Coldply for all you do, and will do, you are all Genius. Chris Also... I guess.

Chris is with me

The Endgame...

Just so no one has any misconceptions about me or what I write, assuming that less than three of you do... I am severely mentally ill.

I do this because I enjoy it and I am in no way trying to ever be poetic, demeaning or negative.

If I say something you don't agree with great. But if you are going to be nasty, because you fell bad internally, then go sit down somewhere and eat a bag of cookies or something.

The flooded basement of your soul? Prose or poetry... not. The point I am trying to make with the reference, if anyone is listening, is that as of 18 months ago, the world has been getting precipitously colder.

You tell me what has bee happening for over two hundred years now since (Boyle?) fired up the first steam generator in England? Correct, we have been dumping carbon into the air, which has caused temperatures to rise for over the last 200 years and... we have melted who knows how many millions (billions) of CUBIC KILOMETRS of previously FROZEN WATER which is now FREE Floating around the world. And if, for some reason the jest stream changes just a few degrees up or down come summer and spring, we can not grow food any more because it just got too cold for that.

Climatologist can only use data from the past to make an "assumption" about the future.

So how do you see a ship coming, approaching the "event horizon", when you cannot travel forward in time (with your consciousness) to definitively comeback to this time zone and announce to the world that in fact such and such will or will not happen, because you experienced (or not) that event "in the future"? You can't, you can only "assume".

I will go out on a limb here and bet all of my three devotees a nickel a piece that it will happen. Pardon me, already has happened. This summer in PEI Canada, when it hailed so hard and intense (volume of hail vrs duration of storm) that the entire potato crop was wiped out.

And if you think I am some kind of quasi-psychotic pothead, then look it up on Google yourself. I think what has happened, which no one has seen coming, is that we have now, or will extremely soon reach a point where the natural world environment has (will become) saturated with liquid water, and this has caused a "tipping" point in the global thermometer (I think).

I can hear you all laughing form here, but when you hear my music you will realize I am no nutcase (just severly mentally ill). In fact I do not drink, do drugs (except pot) and I do not smoke cancerettes. I like to think that I see reality quite clearly thank you, and recently I am feeling like I want to give this planet a big shake down, because we have near ruined the garden of Eden, and many of Gods creatures are now choking to death on our stinking shit. The Indian Tiger? A Jewel of Creation if there ever was one, or the Great Apes? How are they coping with man? Both are now almost EXTINCT.

I have often thought that the day the tiger goes , is the day God breathes fire on this world.

We have taken a paradise, and turned it into a killing field, not just of mankind over time, but now also of Nature, and we are now slowly but surely exterminating many more of Gods own critters. But I guess that is the mystery and the majesty of Creation. The things we all go through in life, it's like who could ever have dreamt up such fictional stories?

Let alone have those "stories" manifest as "reality" on some "plane of existence" we only know about because, we are "connected to it", through our bodies... by our senses.

It's a big mystery to me and I am totally humbled by it all. I am in a state of permanent awe as to this creation and the power behind it all.

Because make no mistake about it, there is a Supreme power controlling everything all the time. including the moment of your departure from this world.

But I have to say, one of the most amazing thing about this life is music. Music for me is a way back home. It's a way back to who I am beyond anything I think I am or am not. My experience is that my real nature is music. I believe that inside each and every one of us is a sun that never burns out. Call it "God", call it your"soul", call it "Tom", or call it a "rose", perfection by any other name is... inside of you.

It is the ultimate paradox of reality. Inside of me and you is God, yet we spend our lives looking outside ourselves for something to makes us feel whole again inside.

Music for me is a way to experience the reality behind this one, the one we stumble around in each day, frightened by our own shadows half the time.

Humankind is so alienated from themselves and each other now, it is so thick on the street, you can cut it with a knife. And the "experts" ruminate on how to fix the world economy?

Just when will they turn the power back on in "Las Vegas"? I hope never. This world economic model has caused death and misery everywhere, just so that traders can fuck it all up in the end? And in the process the environment got trashed, (global warming as a FUNTION of unrestricted "free trade'), hundreds of millions of lose their jobs / security, and what are the experts going to do about it, the same people who brought us this disaster?

They are going to pour more gas on the fire? More Credit. My great grandfather's family was on the Titanic and all the experts said that ship was unsinkable. Pumping more "credit" into the world economy, to me, is like running out of gas ten feet from a cliff, then walking to the nearest gas station so you can fill er up and keep on going... over the fucking edge.

We are at a turning point in human history and are going to be dragged kicking and screaming into the future we have created for ourselves, by God, whether we like it or not. We cannot undo what we have done to this world, and if we all freeze and starve to death then so be it. I hope not, I hope I am wrong and delusional.

But if you follow the news, it's like Bob Dylan said a long time ago... "you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind is blowing".

I will bet you all a nickel each right here and now that from now on the world will cool down in general, and the winters will be longer and more extreme, with more snow staying longer than normal.

So may the Chris be with you as you as you enjoy yet another day in Paradise.

And may the white phosphourous burning a hole in your back be a reminder that this world is still a long way from heaven.

(And if you are really bored...you can hear the music side of me soon on intaba.com. / search robdriscoll / and now I must go to "The church"...to pray for guidance...

Hello Rob!

What I believe is that we are all learning, both collectively and individually about the world we live in. The lessons of the past all too often get forgotten; what did Alan Alda have to say about the Iraq War? Something along the lines of "all those lessons learned about our war experience in Vietnam, and then forgotten.." So too the problems of the 29 crash we've virtually re-created, and the war experiences, the lessons about compassion and common sense forgotten for a time as well. But everything's not lost. One prof. used to describe human progress as a spiral; lots of ups and downs, but slowly, almost imperceptibly, we are moving ahead. What I've come to realize is that it's our isolation from the actual event that prevents our understanding and having concern for what's happening. War correspondents need access to the places where harm is being done; places where radical elements are professing hate, and places where white phosphorous is landing on our fellow mankind. Modern states, with agendas far removed from reality, can sometimes be as awful as the radical elements they are battling.. Unfortunate as it is, citizens are often used as pawns in their ugly games, and with sad results. I think the Palestinians have been treated as the proxies for war between states, and the closing of borders w/ an embargo may have created more support for the extremists, since workers, disallowed access to work, and cut off from the goods they need become enraged, and more are easily pesuaded to violent means as a result. Policy makes often lack the understanding of the effects of their policies, having little understanding of what it's like to walk in the shoes of an average Palestinian. But the violent videos, quite disturbing, I agree. It's unfortunate that violent extremism is so much a part of acceptable behavior and way of thinking in some countries. One has only to recall, however, how violent the Western world was at one time: Guillotinings for entertainment in France during the revolution? Hangings in the U.S. for public entertainment? How about Stalin's pogroms? Concentration Camps? These times were in the past, but Western culture has had it's own blood lust at a time.. It takes time for change, and the more support we show for peaceful change and for moderates, the more things will improve.

Climate change, like many things, is complex, so even as a scientificlly minded person, I have concerns about our current understanding; but the mounting body of evidence suggests we have had a significant effect, however pinning a precise outcome on it all is still to be determined. True, I've read as well that the effect of climate change may be a colder, drier climate for North America and elsewhere, while other parts of the globe may get much hotter and drier. But other matters are considerable as well - putting the huge amounts of CO2 into the biosphere in so rapid a fashion has acidified the ocean (and many lakes); since the ocean acts as both a CO2 sink from the atmosphere, and the biotic world where a great deal of the planet's oxygen is produced, one wonders how the acidity will affect the ocean life, the interconnected web, and the photosynthetic capacity of the oceans to convert CO2 into O2. Adding ocean currents, nutrient upwells, and temperatre effects (and bits of plastic) It's quite the complex equation, but with data we may have an understanding - I'm just not fully aware of what work has been done in the area.

Perhaps it would be wise to use careful knowledge of climate change to plan for a corrective measures, assuming we're at all good at guessing what to do. We could, using mineral nutrients, add enough to the oceans to spur plant growth; it might offer some hope. Also, some work is being done with methods to form clouds over the tropical oceans to create cloud cover and affect climate. One might even be able to dispell energy from pressure systems sooner, to prevent catastrophic hurricanes from getting a start.

All I know is, with hope and understanding, not all is lost. We can be smart enough to make significant changes in time, and I believe we're starting to do that. It's time.

When Idiots Ruled the World

You assume I am talking about today's world (and I assume anyone is reading this?)? I may as well be talking about any time since mankind has been cruising around on two feet looking for food or a good deal.

I just look around at what's happening in the world today, who is in charge and the overall awareness / intelligence level these people have and I am scared shirtless.

Do you know how much "money" they (world governments) have now thrown at this Black Hole called "Free Market Capitalism'' since it imploded and turned into one huge cosmic material sinkhole, sucking all know reason and sanity into the infinite, along with countless retirement pensions, your credit card, the dead and yet to be dead victims of resource generated warfare? Fourteen thousand Billion Dollars. Fourteen Thousand Billion Dollars? $14,0000,0000,000.

And are the poor less poor? Do the jobless have a job? Just where has the 200 year all night party of drunken "competition" landed us? It's starting to look damn close to the collapse of civilization to me. Why, because the foundation was built on sand. Do we need yet another Charles Dickens to hold up the mirfror of morality once again to a blind and frightened humanity>?

Turns out now that Jimi Hendrix was right after all.

Does anyone honestly think that Bush and the "Carlyle group consciousness set", give a flying fuck about anything other than the security of the CAPITAL THEY CONTROL? No, they don't, and the proof is what they did to gain power with Karl the NAZI Rove as their chief political henchman.

Here is my message for the political clowns on Chardonnay, and the voodoo shaman economists who think that black and white is the only and best way to see the world, because in their frightened, insecure and minimalist view of the world... all we are is dogs, so lets just act like dogs and eat one another? To them, that is a "natural" way to "run the world". How else do you explain everything? As Spock would say... it is only logical Captain. It's a no brainer skipper.

Me? I say throw them overboard and let REAL DOGS eat them.

As long as the human race continues to collectively rely for their individual security (food and shelter), on an economic system where ones employment (security) is a function of each individual competing with another for "a piece of the pie"... then it should come as NO SURPRISE to anyone that what you end up with after all is said and done, is pretty well exactly what you have going on outside your window now, in every corner of the globe... CHAOS.

What you get is what we now have. A financial disaster so big, that not anyone can now predecit its outcome. And that is not even beginning to tell what the social effect will be worldwide.

As long as we do not fundamentally change the conceptual foundation of this game we play from 9 to 5 (24 / 7 for the chronically empty and truly lost) things will just get worse.

Why do you think some people want Obama dead? Because a more fair world will ultimately mean that you have to have a system of daily activity for people where what they do is a function of what they are best at, what they love to do, and what society needs. (not all the same people working at cross purpose for the common good / like we now have).

Why do you think people are so snarly these days? Because they feel threatened, and they are... by the system. If no one has failed to notice... caring is not a function of the current economic model.

You want Utopia, you want Heaven on earth? It is is possible, but not I f what you do all day long is just TALK ABOUT IT. Obama and his team of smart kids can tinker and fine-tune free market capitalism all you want, but is that going to bring security to the world? Security will come when everyone has faith that the system is equal for all, including the countless homeless people living in doorways in my somewhat clean and civilized neighbourhood in Vancouver.

In Canada here, next to BC, we have Alberta and the tar sands which contain the largest human created ecological disaster on earth (toxic tailing ponds visible from space) by way of heavy oil extraction, funded by Wall Street bonds, to make a profit on the oil they would sell if the price of oil, yada yada.. collapse? Hello? Where are all the "experts" now the Titanic has sunk and the entire project makes no economic sense anymore?? What a joke, the road map that got us here was made by these clown economists, and now people expect them to find the way home?

While you're at it, why not ask the guy from the Wizard of Oz, the guy who worked all the levers behind the curtain, ask him his opinion on fixing The Humpty Dumpty World Economy? I'm sure his solution for the wolrd economy would have as much or more probability of succeeding than any idea floated by the CEO o of any of these banks who rely more on smoke an mirrors than reality to keep the whole "con / shuffle" going.

And now for these fools (the Albertans), their entire reason for living is collapsing. These rednecks eat breathe and sleep work. They are all busy freaks, workaholics,...

Becasue, If they, the moron politicians, and the Chardonnay *economists (*who would like you to believe that only they understand the problem, and more importantly, heavens, only they can fix it), stopped what they were doing for just one second and looked in the mirror... they couldn't handle it.

They do not want to ask the question: "why are we here", it is just too uncomfortable for a lot of people, because if you do that, you start talking about caring, and that's socialism. And then for them it's just too easy to morph that into politics, right and wrong, and then the freedom to... have "FREE MARKET"? I call it circle consciousness.

Truth is, these people are insecure in the good times and bad, because real inner security has nothing to do with wealth and everything to do with your inner reality, what you FEEL.. (unless of course you are already being deprived of shelter and fooof by the system)

These people do not want to know about a "Higher Purpose" or a "better world". That issue / story was so perfectly told by the Great American Movie maker, Billy Wilder, in the Xmas classic, "It's Wonderful Life". We have a choice every second of every day to make a better world. Do we want Bedford Falls, or do we want perpetual Potterville?

If you give a man an opportunity, a dream of a better life, he will not grow up with the sole desire to become a human bomb by age seventeen. This is complete insanity. I f they just dealt with the poverty problem, most of the violence would dissipate.

When someone asks me what "religion" I belong to? I say "primitive". I belong to the "primitive religion". We all believe that you should believe in our God and if you don't, then our God says we must kill you all. And God speaks to all mankind onlky through our grand priests, so we are right and you are wrong?

It would not be so scary if a lot of these religious practitioners were not roaming the planet now, masquerading as humans, and practising a religion named Mammonism while bowing down to a God they call Wealth.

Good luck, because this issue is at the heart of everything, you solve this one, and you do goe Utopia. You get it wrong, and you get what we got.

And may The Chris be with you as Fox Televison launches it's new TV series which is actually called something like: "We Lied To You".

You mean free market competition is not good for everyone and the natural world? You lied?

I joke about it and say, may the Chris..., but really, this world is very close to the edge and we don't know it. Collectively, mankind is like some deranged drunk on the DT's with a gun and one bullet, trying to decide what on earth is there left to live for, becasue most of what peole have gotten so far from the system has only left them feeling more empty thatn before they had all this crap, which has all now vanished anyway. Back to square one you might say.

Is mankind ready for a better world? Will we ever live up to our potential as creatures of consciousness, incarnated in the heart of God? Will anyone ever realize that this life is the be all end all of everything? You do not have to go to HEAVEN, when you are ALREADY THERE.

This is THE BIG SHOW. And what does everyone do at the big show? Waste their lives fighting with one another over wealth and security, when life could have have been so much more, had we only realized while were we here, that we are only sprit in flesh, and the only difference between you and me is the difference you see, becasue in spitit we are one.

There is only one consciousness, and it is looking out of countless billions of life forms on this planet, many of which are human.

Maybe there is some Gand Purpose for everything? Will we ever turn to face that purpose?

And now all the mindless boneheads who brought you the latest version of "Who Broke Las Vaegas", that hilarious US TV gag show, and apparently also been downing a tew foo martini lunches, they are all going to conjure up their "next season" of Las Vegas for the weary?

One year ago, these intelligence impaired talking calculators were busy telling everyone that maybe there might be a recession and maybe not? How about the worst economic crisis since 1929. And now rapidly approaching implosion temperature.

The fact is 6 to 7 billion people in the world need to eat every day and find shelter, with out catching a bullet along the way. Like if you are child soldier in the Congo, living out the mineral wars. No, that's not a Harry Potter Book, that's a hell on earth right now courtesy of the world economic trade model.

Is this humanities star moment in history, the day we broke reality, and no one knew how to fix it? The truth is, everything you don't want in your world , is by design, built in to the way things are today. These jokers that just broke Las Vegas and are now meeting in Switzerland, do any of them have any new ideas? Or is that a broken record I hear in the backgrond?

What all these people were doing up until quite recently was trading rotten food amongst themselves and /or then selling it off to the four corners of the globe with a AAA risk rating.

And peole siting at home watching bank adds now are supposed to believe that all these papaer vehicles will somehow keep them from starving and out of the cold thirty years hence? Let them eat junk bonds? Will that be with or without MARMITE? Like many just did now? Some people have lost everything, and some have now been quoted publicly as saying that, in retrospect, no matter how much they had, more was never enough to fill the hole inside.

So the problem facing man is not just, "the system". It's the person you see in the mirror everyday is the issue. If you are at peace with yourself, then you are at peace with the world.

If you are at war with yourself, then you have todays world. People have to start looking at life differently, before they wake up from the dream and realize they are dead. Meaning, when you are are dead, is a sad time to realize you wasted the time you had alive.

Life can be so much more than the drudgery version of reality so many people live. Is life more than a "job at a factory"? Will we ever reach our real potential?

And may the Chris be with you as the quacking of parrots recedes into the cobwebs of your mind. Or as Daniel Tammet might say, as all numbers start and end at zero, so to may the Chris be with you.

ps. maybe I will aply for some of the governement bailout /stimulus money and open up a US style road-house/ casino called Los Loco's, or Crazy Bar Casino?

what did Alan Alda have to say about the Iraq War? Something along the lines of "all those lessons learned about our war experience in Vietnam, and then forgotten.." So too the problems of the 29 crash we've virtually re-created

I love Alan Alda, MASH was a great show. People don't learn from history, thus the saying is true and we are doomed to repeat it.

Was I wrong? Or are The Fools Right?

I will try to be positive.

Well, now we have some "business leaders" saying that if Obama does this trillion dollar lifeline to keep several million Americans from ending up like so much dust on the road in the Grapes of Wrath, then that is "uncompetitive", and they will have to do the same and stop trading fairly with everyone else, so there.

And the world economy stops completely? According to some potato-head people, maybe.

Because that's exactly part of what caused the Dirty Thirties, it was not the crash of 29 that was the only major factor, the other was the trade barriers.

So now, when the lives of millions of people are actually at serious risk, when the solution to that is put forth, everyone who wants to play ball as usual in Las Vegas says 'that is not fair"?

Ya right, not fair if you happen to be f...ing psychopath with no conscience whatsoever regarding anything to do with appearing to be the slightest bit human. When you listen to some of these people at this Davos gathering of the lame, spineless, and the blind, they sound too hypocritical to be believed anymore.

They all made piles of cash in the derivatives market before it crashed, which fundamentally was a place for bored financiers who could place huge bets on whether or not the price of plasticine would be such and such, at such and such a date, and they did it all with borrowed money, your money. And the public money replacing all the bad loans the banks made, some of them to traders?

And now that the entire circus has broke loose from the pen and all bloody chaos is happening, these people stand up and want the world to believe them? I am a pot smoking musician and even I can figure them out. They are the living embodiment of self delusion as far as I am concerned. I guess they are all way more creative at high altitude, eating croissants and sipping wine. Sort of likea modern day Manhattan Project on the World Economy / airheads only please attend.

Read what George Soros thinks about all this crap. To spend or not to spend, as Shakespeare so aptly said once? That is not the issue anymore, because what they are doing now is like the Titanic has already hit the iceberg and the bail out is patching from within.

Have you ever seen the schematic drawings for the ship? Not one bulkhead is sealed? Where is the oversight or built in mechanism in this world economic order that ensures social stability? That is exactly what free-enterprise does not deliver, ever. But it really works hard at keeping the lie going. Until they crash their car in your backyard, and run away.

The bottom lime is, as our beloved Saint Christopher once said, we are all part of some great cosmic dance, the outcome of which we are all privileged to witness and actually be a part of. Sort of like realities version of a man made interactive video game.

We make the decision to pull the trigger or not, we make the decision to give the beggar a dollar or not. Or as Robert Oppenheimer said after witnessing the first nuclear bomb explode: "I am become Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.", quoting The God Form Vishnu from the Indian scripture Bhagavad Gita. We made this mess, now must fix it.

We have come full circle with pan global free trade and it looks completely unreliable.

They are starting to call Great Britain, Iceland on the Thames. Like so many cattle rustlers from the past, these world financiers just nod to the yes guy, and they yank all of their "cash" out of your "country" and next you are calling the world bank for help? What is wrong with this picture?

That's why these potato heads should all be locked up and fed porridge once a day for the rest of their pathetic lives. Have a nice day.

"Reform cannot be achieved by a well-intentioned leader who recruits his followers from the very people whose moral confusion is the cause of the disorder." - Socrates

All too true. But the problem is that in good times after bad times, people forget what caused the bad times. Then, the con-men step in, sell a song and a dance to the public, and think they can waltz off with their loot. They've rigged the social deal we've struck amongst ourselves - namely, they've rigged the makets to fail by their rush to be the biggest takers from the pot with their schemes, and the average citizen on planet earth pays the bills.

I know the harm done, and yes Rob, I've helped homeless people - made a homeless man a house to live in, and helped with food donations - I'm not so unfamiliar with the troubles many people face. The reason our family survived the depression was from food donations (government rations), and what they grew on the farm - that's back in the day's of the 30's, but the stories remain strong with me.

I've often felt the need for real compassion is lacking in our modern world, and the essential checks and balances with our government here in the US is eroded severely - I've been involved with the efforts to change all that, but it takes a shock to wake others up as well, and now we've seen the shock. We need a separation of Money and Politics so representative government works for the will of we citizens, and does not allow irrational manipulators to control the show from on high. And the economy needs to be changed to address all concerns, especially long-term thinking and efficiency, lest we dig everything and pollute with our current wasteful methods in an extraction-consumption-disposal view of our existance. I'm working on putting the ideas into practice - from houses that consume less than a 10th of their original energy, to finding ways to heat with biofuels in winter, such that very little biomass is required, and the energy is put to maximum use through electric generation, applying waste heat for home heating needs.

Consider that you are not alone in your quest, Rob.

this thread is ridiculous

When the Head Bites the Tail

Any mention of American trading companies is just empirical. The attitude behind this mess is universal.

And what is the issue now coming up amongst all these people who from birth have been chanting "free market everything with no rules"? What are they all now chanting in unison, like the one dimensional, intelligence challenged, moral bankrupts they all are?

Look at what they are all starting to say about Obama's plan, that it is "not fair" because everything is "buy American". And what is the "free trade" alternative...

We all compete ourselves into STARVATION? Really, so hypothetically, under "economic globalism" everything Obama has on the bill is going to "subbed out" to the lowest bidder".

WHICH JUST GOT US TO THIS FUCKING TRAIN WRECK TO BEGIN WITH? I guess when you drink too much wine and make to much fast money, you lose your soul, or something like that. You just become a walking MORAL LOBOTOMY, the kind of human trait Dickens would shred to pieces regularly in all his work, the amoral zombies amongst us.

They are the people God creates so that we may have a living definition of right and wrong.

I am glad I am a musician who loves to play my own stuff and listen to that of others, because I get more satisfaction out of that and my daughter that all the derivatives in China would ever give me.

And that is the secret that these cheeseheads just don't get...

If Chris Martin had spent his life as a banker, would his life have been as meaningful and fulfilled as had he not been a musician, which is what he is most talented at? My point is, you eat to live, not live to eat.

And while you are living, hopefully you do something with YOIUR TIME, that rings a bell inside of you, like developing a TALENT you might have, like if you are good at tying shoe laces, then practice that.

God did not create life so that we may live to eat. We eat to live, and then we DO SOMETHING purposeful with our life.

WE DO NOT TURN ALL LIFE ON EARTH INTO A BOARDGAME CALLED "LIVE TO EAT / THE FREE ENTERPRISE VERSION" / one night only pig-out / all major credit cards accepted?

Because that is exactly what we have been doing up until now. And look at where it has got us, which by the way, I saw an extremely frightening show about last night...

It was a 2007 1hr doc on the jellyfish EXPLOSION now happening in the worlds oceans, primarily in the "dead zones" which when seen from enhanced satellite imagery is a lot of ocean now.

They (the 2 or 3 scientist who study the jelly people and know any thing about them) estimate there are over 18 BILLION, they all have a terrible sting, and some are close to one metre in diameter. One very very tiny jelly person (we will call him Wilbur), is now being found everywhere, dead sea or not, and this little fella' has the same kill sting as a scorpion, the worst snake, and frog venom... combined. You just have to look at this guy ... and you are dead.

Just ONE of the things this venom does apart from seizures and stopping your heart, is to explode any blood cells it comes into contact with.

Bigger jellyfish clog the intake pipes of nuclear reactors and all kinds of bizarre things.

And they now know that temperature changes in the ocean have in large part triggered this huge "bloom" as they call it. Apparently they live as "polyps" on the ocean floor for decades until some environmental factor like a minute temperature change (up or down) causes them to reappear everywhere again. They have been around for 300million years. Do they know something we don't? Will Mensa accept the leader of the jellypeople as equal to humans in all aspects, including NATURAL INTELLIGENCE?

Me? I will bet my money on a jellyfish any day over an economist or politician. The jelly people have "lived a little" you might say.

So in light of the fact that the polar ice caps are almost gone, the seas and skies have become industrial sewers, and now the jellyfish are rising up against us...

IS IT NOT TIME TO RE-DESIGN THE TITANIC? (world economy) / purpose of life.

May the Chris be with you as we merrily skip and dance our way through one hell after another and perhaps in some lifetime... land back to heaven, like Dorthy in Kanasas.

I believe there are many motivators, both individual and collective, in any society. Bidding things out to the lowest bidder is narrow-minded and short-sighted I agree, but a formula based on redeeming social values, quality of service, and guarantees against bad-practice corporate failings. Lowest cost isn't always best - it should be a combination of qualities that gets the bid. We could have agencies do it too; I believe many are motivated by the desire to accomplish something that lasts and is good for the country and the world, as long as there are checks and balances on quality and efficiency, plus good design of the programs.

True, we all are best doing what we are best at, but we cannot all be musicians, not can we all be bankers. We can understand one-another better, and yes, I would have to agree that the top bankers/money managers have lost themselves in their own hubris and schemes, pulling things that have shaken the global financial system to it's foundation.

I think we have front-loaded things into the competitive mode too heavily, I have to agree. Not enough time to reflect, nor respect for reflective wisdom to take root and take precedent in our way of doing things in life. But there are many paths, and competition, if channeled into useful ways can benefit both the individual and society. It does cause a "blinder's effect" to go up on the horses running the race, however.

Yes, we've screwed up ocean ecology - something I'm aware of, including the jellyfish growth explosion - but clogging the intake pipes in news to me. So much for self-limiting ocean fishing, or allowing plastics that won't decompose naturally, or allowing too much shark fishing. Top predators often are key to ecological balance. Hence, without honest governments, the will of the people and the truth is suppressed to all our detriments.

MENSA isn't jelly fish, but perhaps wished to understand the interactions occurring.

The life in the ocean is an indicator of pressures which cause some species to thrive while others diminish in numbers. It hasn't feeling, it just is, as everything living just is. And we must learn quickly to balance the systems we're part of, or face the results which we may not like (zebra mussels in the Great Lakes, Jellyfish in the oceans everywhere, mercury in the water and food we eat..).

I'm for a quality-of-life economy, which includes all life. Revamping the economy is important, but we do need an economy, just one that's overseen by just individuals, with a broad understanding of equity, and responsive to the will of the people. An economy with a heart, courage, and a brain, as the Wizard bestowed on the three knights of OZ!:)

Oh my...I thought I'd pop in here to get an interesting read...but there's too much to read. :rolleyes5:

Oh my...I thought I'd pop in here to get an interesting read...but there's too much to read. :rolleyes5:

I knoow, it's just too overwhelming

It's Actually Too SCARY is WHAT IT IS.....

What if, and I have to say that I think me and my three disciples are the only ones to hold this view, but what if... what is now happening to the world economy (grinding to a halt), is actually Nature saying to us: This Game is Over? Las Vegas is permanently closed?

Absurd? Apparently the concept of a spherical planet was not too popular with the "smart set" of the day either, and I am no Einstein of ocean science, but 18 billion jellyfish taking over the oceans in not a good sign either.

Seriously, maybe the big breakdown is Nature saying to mankind: go find something more meaningful to do with your time, than destroying the world which supports you?

But that is like saying to humanity: go be happy. What, go be happy? You mean, find something I love to do and perfect it into an art form? We have taken the means of survival, and turned it into the purpose of living. Which is really like having the cart before the horse so to speak. You think I am simplistic, Van Gogh spent his life painting and look where it got him in the end, a bullet in the gut. (I'm being silly)

Look at how panicked people are now, and rightly so as most are not protected from this nightmare. And the experts react like irritated puffer fish when you mention the words "American content", or "change the system".

As Australia has the worst heat wave in over 100 years, many parts of Europe and North America have record cold winters? Good news eh? At least we have good old Nature to fall back on if everything in the world of man goes AWOL.

How many planets do we have to trash before anyone realizes that this world is "it".

Have you ever asked yourself, "just what is a world?". In relation to an onion, you can think of the atmosphere we live in as being the same thickness as that of an onion skin, the papery part. I think we actually exist inside a vibration (so to speak).

Six miles up is absolute zero with more space available and six miles down is molten rock. We exist on this gossamer thread of reality, seemingly floating forever in an endless sea of space and time.

And in this world, you also exist. Some process called life has brought us into existence for a purpose other than what we currently do, believe me.

This world is a school for spiritual growth, not an original concept, but true I believe. And here is the irony of it all, While most people believe and live their lives as though we are all separate and therefore must keep an eye on others, I believe we are all one. Call me old fashioned or whatever...

The me looking out at you from me, is the same me in you, looking back at me. It's all the same awareness, localized in different bodies, or in the case of a tree, not a body, a tree. And that's not pot speaking either, it's apart of my being, I know it instinctively, or my life experience has made me aware of it.. or whatever, I just know it exists. And that is why everything is "inter-connected", because behind it all, it's all the same thing, it is, one vibration become infinite creation.

Have you ever been out in the country and looked up at the Cosmos on a clear summer night? If you wanted to create the perfect illusion of infinity, is that scene fairly close to it? The very being that creates the nighttime sky, then inhabits a body to behold it all? That is the original... Fantastic Voyage if there ever was one. And the feeling behind it all is.. "it's such a PERFECT day... ", every one, every day is perfect.

This world is Heaven, look around you, at everything. Everything not Heaven, I can guarantee you, was created by man.

I think that probably less than one in a million people think of this world as being some kind of Heaven. Which is okay, because in this particular dream, you can be anything you wish, for as many lifetimes as it takes, to get it right.

Maybe I will get this life right?

May the Chris be with you as you ride a light beam to your final destination, the one who existed before you were created, and will survive your death. The one who will forgive you when you won't forgive yourself.

AND IN THE END...
