i think coldplay has been making poor videos of late....its not a big deal but viva la vida would have been awesome if they stuck with the apple format or at least made as big as the violet hill video

Personally I don't like the Apple ad as it's too "corporate" and doesn't resemble the Coldplay I love.

 

 

For a similar reasons, I'm not too fond of the official video for VLV.. it's like they used the concepts in the Apple ad, and just used the Eugene Delacroix backdrop.

 

The alternative video for VLV - on the other hand - is their best video to date. IMO. It personfies the band perfectly and captures what they're all about: witty, ironic, irreverant, charming, as well as capturing the mood of the song VLV.

 

I love the alternate version! That is the Coldplay I love!

about the official version... even if it's not that good.. I wouldn't say that I hate it... it's ok for a music video

The official version we always see on the tv is ok. A little bit standard but it looks good.

And I have to agree with most responses: I too like the alternative version more. They just should've released that one. Ah well... it doesn't really matter.

 

I do still hope for a Coldplay music video that really blows me away. :)

I don't hate it, but I also think the alternate version is much better :)

And I loved all the colors and waves in the Apple ad:)

I have to say I agree with the fact that the alternate video for VLV is better, only because the official version, as nice as it looks, seems quite pretentious to me. And it almost IS like they tried to make a full length version of the apple ad, but they just presented it with more of the album cover shots. And I usually don't mind Chris' dancing in their videos when he does do it, even if they are a bit crazy, but here it almost comes across as forced and a little TOO crazy. Like he's being a caricature of himself or something... I don't know. I think I've always preferred the down to earth Chris of old anyway.

 

And even though the official Violet Hill video might be thin on a plot, and arguably their most random video so far, it actually has a lot more character than the official VLV video, and for that reason I like it more.
