Forth VS Dig Out Your Soul

i wondered what you were goin' to say

surprise, surprise :laugh3:

it is better..in my opinion obviously :D..if it was better full stop this thread would not exist

Forth is ALL filler. Get the singles album if you want a sampling of their best music. Get Urban Hymns if you like a great Album

It really isn't. thats just an absurd exaduration.

I mean the band consider among other things Forth to be their best work. So I don't think they view it as filler. I dunno if the people who hate Forth are the kind who love A Storm in Heaven and A Northern Soul or the fans of the likes of Lucky Man. And yes Forth is their weakest album, Ashcroft's lyrics just arn't major enough. Musically as with a talent like the Verve its astounding. Everything is so lush and layered.

If theres anything wrong with Forth its that Ashcroft has nothing more to say.

Just my opinion... Didnt offer it to provoke an argument

Whos arguing, Im simply calling you out for your blatent exaduration.

If you've got an opinion, nice one, now back it up without excessive exaduration.

I don't mean to nag, but this is one of my buttons (everyones got one thing that annoys them and shouldn't and this is mine)

Filler by definition is to fill out an album. By all means say the album is crap, then say why, just don't say its entirely composed of filler!

(you may have already went into detail on the Verve thread, if so I appologise)

But comments like that are as annoying as the 'they sold out' cries when a band becomes popular.

The album is crap for the reason I like only 2 songs on a cd I payed £10 for. there.

I never said they sold out... Nor did I exaggerate anything. TO ME, (opinion) Forth - the album is all filler. Aside from a mildly entertaining lead single the rest of the album fell short of their OBVIOUS BRILLIANCE. I am a fan of their music and I love their previous work. Forth is widly considered dissappointing. I am glad that you like it. Your response to my opinion is overblown and EXAGGERATED! I am not attacking you, the band or the album for that matter.

So, chill... Thanks

Im glad, your glad, I like it.

But curious? do you like A Northern Soul?

I know loads of people who are verve fans who wouldn't even know they were a shoe gazer band and didn't even recognise their previous albums.

Dig Out Your Soul = Best Album Of The Year.

They're just f*cking having it on that album!

The Shock, Falling Down, I'm Outta Time, The Turning, Bag It Up, Waiting For The Rapture all these are classics....

Having downloaded the album A Northern Soul 4 days ago I gotta say,

Brainstorm Interlude, History, and Lifes An Ocean are brilliant and are going on my mp3 player today.

So It Goes, A Northern Soul, Drive You Home, and Stormy Clouds are all good songs. The rest was ok. Nothing as memorable as the others. You are right though. This album is very unlike there later music. It has some rougher edges and even folk like moments. The first two tracks were raucous and heavier than what followed. Excluding Brainstorm (my favorite) Although I may grow tired of it. I loved History and think it will stick with me a lot longer.

Still Forth has not impacted me like their previous work including A Northern Soul and back on point Dig Out Your Soul by Oasis has been a big grower for me and I feel is a much better album...

peace

Jeff

Took me ages to appreciate A Northern Soul, I must say.

I mean it is 70 minutes of mostly dense guitar work. I kinda love the whole thing now but it took ages.

Brainstorm interlude is brilliant, as is a northern Soul itself. Kinda reminds me of Noise Epic. I dunno which one I like better. But I find Forth and ANS are pretty similar except Forth is more lyricy.

But yeah, peace!

Just download "A Storm In Heaven". One of the best albums ever recorded.
