Music Writing Programs?

Featured Replies

Do you mean something like Audacity?

I'm not an expert, but if it's editing/recording software you're after to record yourself playing then you'll need Audacity, Cubase, Cakewalk, Garage Band, Pro Tools or Logic. If you're looking for composition software then Finale Notepad/Song Writer/Allegro should do the job, as Tnspieler1012 suggested. If you're after drums then download Tabtrax, tab the drum part out and play/record it using Audacity or similar.

EDIT: Ahh free... well then Audacity will be your best bet. I'm not sure if any of the others I mentioned have a free downloadable version do they? And Finale Notepad is free too.

Logic is an amazing program, I'm not too up on music programs, I prefer just to play than use a computer but I've seen a friend use it and it looks pretty impressive.
