A con man has posted himself out of a German prison in a giant FedEx box.

Turkish jaildbird Yasar Bayrak, 37, has been on the run since November 10, authorities said.

He also goes by the names Ibrahim Yasin, 42, and Hans Lang, 42.

German police believe he may have already created a new identity for himself and have released his photo in a desperate attempt to find him.

Bayrak, who was jailed for drug-related offences, escaped from jail by posting himself out of prison in a giant FedEx box used for dirty laundry.

He hid in the package which was then loaded onto a van and driven through the gates at the prison in Willich near Dusseldorf, western Germany.

He is understood to have fled when the driver made his next stop.

The driver then raised the alarm when he saw that the door was open - although by then it was already too late.

A police spokesman said: 'We believe he my already have set up a new identity, so we have issued a picture in the hope someone will help us to identify him.'
