Well I'd get it quick from 7 digital... its £4 as well as the whole killers album for a fiver!!!!!!!!!

They do great deals and are completely free for use on ipods.

I was like holy moley, £4? Thats how much I'd pay for Rainy Day and LIT 2 alone!

Not free, these songs are definitely worth it.

i'm not sure what's being argued now :P but it got me thinking.

 

and if i could just add my two cents.. i can think of verry few bands who sound completely original. i think now its just about the art of splicing together everything around you in a way that comes out as somewhat your own. there's only so many notes to play, but a hundred people playing the same notes all might play them differently. so coldplay sound like the arcade fire, who sound like u2, who sound like the arcade fire, who sound like coldplay, who sound like...

 

its just recycled sound. if we're going to bicker about originality, it all could be traced back to thousands and thousands of years ago. (alright, not anything coming out of an amp or a computer per say, but the basic sentiment is still there)

Airing your opinion is, of course, perfectly valid, but consider that a Coldplay fansite is about as apt a forum for discussing the derivative nature of their music as a Republican convention is for a Democratic mission statement speech.

But let me just say that that coldplay has always been largely inspired by other bands,to the point where they joke about plagiarism, even though it's not. You could just as easily complain about them trying too much to sound like Jeff Buckley in shiver or radiohead in Spies as people say they try to be like u2 in LIJ. No one's music is void of context as you well know, and music nowadays is mainly the result of your personal input on your collective influences. Sounding a little like u2, or a little like Jeff Buckley or Radiohead is part of what makes up Coldplay. Not in the sense that they try to imitate a particular song, but that they strive for similar goals. And despite the headlines , they never really copy anybody, but are just inspired by ideas, and so form one's of their own...and personally I don't see how any songs on VLV sound blatantly u2ish save for a certain grandiosity.

 

But all this discusion is far from the thread's main subject...

The music industry is crumbling, and I think the general public has been so incredibly spoiled through leaks, rapidshare, pay what you want gimmicks, giveaways etc. that our market's become less and less friendly towards striving musicians, and after the priceless impact music has had on all of our lives, we have little right to complain that music isn't worth that much. You can always get the tracks a dollar a pop online anyway.
