So, you believe that teenagers only get jobs because they are not learning anything about the real world in the classroom? Don't you think that some teenagers simply want to have a job? There are teenagers out there who simply want a job because they want to work in order to get more experience, and there are others who take a job because mom/dad are ill and can not work so they work in order to help out. There's nothing wrong with having a job. It's a person's decision whether or not they want to work, and if they want to work then so what?

Ok, I'll stop and let this group get back to talking with each other.

hmm. so you think that the majority of kids get a job to support their ill parents or cuz "they want experience" experience of what? know how to flip a burger or ask if you want fries with that?

get real. most teens in the US get jobs cuz they want money to spend. and ofcourse not all of them.

but the majority YES.

are you feeling any better from what you were telling me the other day?..

If you've read my post then you would know that I did not say "majority". I said "some". You are basing your reasoning on your experience with the group that you are familiar with, but that sample group can not be classified as "a majority" and you should know that. The group you are familiar with might have jobs because they want money to spend but that does not necessarily represent the whole working teenage population. Every teenager has a different reason for wanting a job. Some do want a job to have money so they can buy things because mom and dad are not going to buy them the expensive things they want, some want it so they can save money for college because college is expensive and the tuiton keeps going up but the financial aid is not, some want a job for experience, and some want it for other reasons.

BTW...experience does not mean working at a fast food place. Believe it or not but there are teenagers who work in other facilities that cater to retail (perhaps they want to go into retail management), construction, business companies (secretaries, etc), animal shelters/offices (vets), and so forth.

No offense but your posts seem to be filled with hate on this subject that is not totally called for.

so what you're saying that the rest of americans that i'm not familiar with get jobs for those reason you are saying and not because they want money to waste on things that american capitalism tells them they should buy?

  • Author

i see so many things wrong with it. and if i get asked then i shall say i do hate this place.

it's education and the way teens waste their lives.

all i want you do is stop arguing with other people on here:\

who are you to tell me to stop talking?

you asked me to prove a point to you and i did.

if maiby your great country provided you with the education you need to learn on how to succed in life and stand on your own 2 feet istead of laking all that so all of you feel the need to go out and get a job cuz you learn NOTHING about the real world in the classrooms. MAIBY you would understand where i'm coming from.

but all you do is say what you see.

you haven't seen the education in other countries.

and all you keep saying is to shut up shut up. stop insulting my country, why istead you don't go find me some facts why the education here is go great.

what the hell do you know? you are sounding so dumb and ignorant right now I actually feel bad for you:lol:

hmm. so you think that the majority of kids get a job to support their ill parents or cuz "they want experience" experience of what? know how to flip a burger or ask if you want fries with that?

get real. most teens in the US get jobs cuz they want money to spend. and ofcourse not all of them.

but the majority YES.

THERE ARE OTHER FUCKING JOBS THAN FRY-COOK DUMBASS

and how do you know what they majority of Americans do with their money? SHOW ME STATISTICS!!!

why don't you actually read some of tracylynn's posts? she's making a hell of a lot of sense and you are ignoring her because you know she's right

all i want you do is stop arguing with other people on here:\

how can i do that when i get called names.. ^

noot really..

do you want to talk about it? *hugsvivi*

I dont know but why dont u start by telling me why ur not ok........pm if u want.

how can i do that when i get called names.. ^

easy:

1. don't insult other people when they've been nothing but nice to you

2. don't stereotype a nation because you are too self-involved to realize that all people are different

3. don't make things up and assume things about other people to try to prove a point

  • Author

nick. i'm done talking to you.

i don't need your name calling.

nick. i'm done talking to you.

i don't need you name calling.

and I don't need your ignorant stereotyping

and I won't be done until you admit you're wrong and realize that not all Americans are the same, our education is not terrible, and you don't know everything about America

so what you're saying that the rest of americans that i'm not familiar with get jobs for those reason you are saying and not because they want money to waste on things that american capitalism tells them they should buy?

No, I'm not saying that. I'm saying that every teenager has their own reason for getting a job and those are some of the reasons why teenagers get jobs. You can't say a majority of teenagers get jobs because of wanting to buy things because that would be wrong without any scientific facts to back it up.

Believe it or not, but I am not attacking you. I am giving you the discussion that you want. I work in the education field, and yes, I have gone to school in a foreign country (I lived in Spain for a period) so I know about the differences. And actually, I agree with some of the things you said. I agree that a lot of teens waste their lives. I see it everyday. But, if you read my first post I said one of the problems in education that is often ignored is the family. Your parents are your first teachers and they really are supposed to teach you for the rest of your life but many are not. Teachers can not do everything and be both a teacher and a parent but, unfortunately, we have to and we can't do that. Family and the value of education is not the same as it was 20 or 30 years ago and that is the problem. Until families see the value of education then the US system will be below the standard we want.

I don't know your name but the point I was getting at is that you really can not make statements that generalize the whole spectrum.

  • Author

HAHAHAHAAHAHAAH. oh yes well now i must admit i'm wrong cuz nick told me so.

i'm not wrong. i believe what i believe.

i've seen too many things wrong with this country to say there is nothing wrong with it.

you don't know everything about america either.

but still you come here and try to prove to me that all i've said is a bunch of bull opinion of mine.

i'm not the only one who thinks things i've said.

just because only me is saying this does not mean other people don't think that too.

and don't come here saying that all you've done is been nice to me. beacause you haven't.

don't even play the victim

*puts the mod hat on *

Ok guys i'm not gonna talk as a normal member but as mod.You can debate and argue all you want but please no insults. Everyone here is entitled to have their own opinion but we can't impose what we think to others. Keep debating about any topic you want but play fair :)
