The "Awards Season" Thread

Featured Replies

i've never seen skins besides a clip or two on youtube. it doesn't seem like my kind of show, really, and from what i can tell, dev patel was a TOTALLY different, lower-quality actor in that show. something changed in him for slumdog, and it was amazing, especially for such a young kid.

i really need to see benjamin button and revolutionary road, but i don't think they'll be playing anywhere around here

YAY SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE FOR GETTING THE SAG FOR BEST CAST!

i wish dev patel had won best supporting actor, but with heath dead and all (and deserving of the award), he had no chance.

roll on, oscars! :nice:

yeah I agree, I think that in any category that Heath is nominated in, none of the other nominees have a chance.. I would love to see Michael Shannon win for best actor in a supporting role at the Oscars, but I know that Heath will probably win. (Which is weird because Michael's performance in Revolutionary Road reminds me of the joker)

but anyway.. yay for slumdog!

Cool to see I'm not the only person around who is such a geek when it comes to awards season. I love watching all of those awards for some weird reason. Most people I know don't lol, so its like a guilty pleasure.

skins is a brilliant show

I loved Dev in skins, he's hilarious! But I never knew he had the chops to do a movie like Slumdog! He was brilliant in it. :D

  • 4 weeks later...

so. EXCITED. :bomb:

i'm watching barbara walters now. does the ceremony start at 9, with an hour of red carpet before? i want to see some red carpet, but i also want to watch barbara...

^ It's fake. :nice:

Natalie Portman looks amazing tonight! :stunned:

  • Author

It starts at 8:30.

7:00-8:00 = Barbara Walters Special

8:00-8:30 = Red Carpet

8:30-11:30 = Academy Awards Ceremony

I've been watching red carpet stuff all day though. It started at 2pm on E!

& yes I saw that list... but I don't think it's true. The Academy is sooo careful and secretive about everything.. I would be really surprised if that list turned out to be genuine.. but I guess we'll see pretty soon!

i think it's fake too, but part of me wonders. thanks for the times, lauren! i wanted to know how much red carpet there would be :D

and i have my eyes peeled for dev patel :wideeyed:

Ohhh Dev Patel! He looks wonderful! So charming...

he was hugging the little boys and holding the little girl's hand! :nice:

i am such a fangirl, but i so love nerds :wacky:

and i LOVE freida's dress in that picture!

Are you watching it now?

It's 2:30am here but I'll watch as long as I can stay awake...

Would be great to have somebody to talk to...

Like about the Slumdog allusion a few seconds ago!!!!! :)

This is so cool what they are doing there!!!

Anybody watching?

That's what I thought as well.

The first win is already good. We're still showing "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" in the cinema I work at... means even more people coming to see it now!

Slumdog hopefully will be a huge hit in Germany as well. Starts next month here.

Wow, great speech!

I loved Milk. I think I'll watch it a second time.

Dev and Freida look so great! 1 for Slumdog 9 to go! Yay. :)

Lovers in Japan playing right now  :D!!!

loves in japan as background music :wacky:

haha, we all got excited :nice:.
