He played it live on the piano? Well transcriptions of the album versions are easily available. Does Chris just play chords or imitate the dulcimer?

It seemed like a chord/arpeggio combination...he did play some chord/riff combinations as well. He played with a piano, no MIDI instruments. It seemed like he hadn't practiced much prior to playing it.

Is there a video of this? I want to see

I'm surprised so many of you don't know what he's talking about...Check the main coldplaying.com page... He performed it at the NRJ Awards.

^there it is

yeah it certainly seems he did not take too much time to prepare it haha

true but hey it was still great...

Yeah, it has a nice charm to it. Like he's messing around at a friend's house. Kind of cool

As far as the way it's played. The structure is pretty much the same. I've been playing it on the piano for a while, and he's pretty much just improvising around the chords which are F#m, D, A x3 then E, A x1 throughout.

The intro riff is just the notes A, B, A, C#, E, A, A, B, A, F#, F#, E, A...(F#'s are G#'s the 2nd time around)

At the end of each verse he plays two chords using notes: e(or f#),a,d into e,a,c# on the RH

oh, and the only slight variation in the bass line is during the "serenade of sound" part where the bass plays A, G F# before the E chord.

Thanks! I'll try to work it out!

It would be great if someone could try to do a tutorial (video) :embarrassed:

thanks !!

at the end of the video the guy is like: "Thank u zo mooch Chris"

He nailed it. Alot of us wish we could sound quite so melodic in our friends basement. :)

lol. France.

actually, the host of the ceremony is Greek! :P (Nikos)

intelligent, cross-cultural american fail....

anyone have it on guitar?

what do you need? the chords and melody are all there. (only th D is Dsus2 [xx0230]) and the E chord is played an octave higher.

jonny's riff, jonnys solo at the end of the song before the ooooh please

Jonny's part is an enigma to me frankly. He has some weird slightly audible reverb effect with which he plays chords and tremolo picks at the intro, but the only riffs I know for the intro and the chorus are played by the dulcimer, let me see if I can find the sheet.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for but it helped me learn how to play LIT

Yeah but you can pause it and read it . I only got the being part down though because I used my Ipod touch and its hard to get some of the keys.
