February 19, 200917 yr We have threads for the hardest guitar riffs, hardest drum parts, and hardest basslines, why not Chris vocal parts? 1. Yes -ridiculously low notes 2. Amsterdam -the switches between falsetto and tenor in the verses 3. Speed of Sound -just a very high-pitched yet powerful song 4. Low -the whole end "I feel low" as well as the "you should try" at the end of the second verse 5. Fix You -just really high notes, you have to be very good with your falsetto 6. Shiver -can anybody hit those straining high notes "sing it loud and clear" without sounding like a dying dolphin? What do you all think?
February 19, 200917 yr YES THOSE ARE ALL PRETTY DIFFICULT! especially that part in shiver that you mentioned. :stunned:
February 19, 200917 yr I've attempted to sing the majority of Coldplay songs in the car with nobody around (heck, I was just doing it an hour ago). And I'm gonna second Shiver. Even the "Don't you shiveeeerrrr..." parts make me sound ridiculous, which makes me especially scared to try singing it on the new Guitar Hero (which I totally have the mic for). Sparks is another tricky one, especially since it's lyrics are high and sprase. And the "Oh and IIIIIIIIIIII..." at the end of The Hardest Part's chorus really makes me sound like a loon, especially live. There's a few I've improvised for by singing all the notes lower consistently, like Fix You, and the "If you love me, don't you let me go" part of Violet Hill.
February 19, 200917 yr Yeah, the high notes are evil. Even Chris tends to miss the first one during the chorus of yellow every now and then. I agree with those already mentioned, so to add to the list... Square One: the "ahh-ahh-arrre part is ridiculous! Easy To Please: As Chris even sung a higher note than the chorus of this song? It's off the charts! Lovers in Japan: Tough, tough tough chorus. I can't sing this without sounding like a dying mule. X&Y: Another one that's way up there, even during the verse. Brothers & Sisters/Only Superstition: Both tough for similar reasons. Quick changes of pitch, where you'll be reaching for high notes while totally out of breathe. Twisted Logic: If you include the scream at the end. :P
February 19, 200917 yr Author Sparks is another tricky one, especially since it's lyrics are high and sprase. True, Sparks is also difficult. And I can sing Fix You and Violet Hill high, but it just doesn't sound good unless my voice is really on! Easy To Please isn't so bad if you have a decent falsetto. And that note you're referring to in the chorus is not that hard to hit, I just tried a few seconds ago. Lovers In Japan chorus is so hard. He doesn't go falsetto, so you have to have a really strong upper tenor. I agree about X&Y, especially the switch from tenor to falsetto in the "togetheeeerr" in the chorus Only Superstition is another really hard one like you said because of the pitch changes that happen very quickly.
February 19, 200917 yr How about CSC because the lyrics are barely audible While true, Chris sounds more distinct in a live performance. There's a few songs where even though I can reach a high note, I can't hold it anywhere near as long as Chris. A good example is Speed of Sound's chorus.
February 19, 200917 yr How about CSC because the lyrics are barely audible yah. and while chris's voice in that song is high, guy's is extremely low!
February 19, 200917 yr True, Sparks is also difficult. And I can sing Fix You and Violet Hill high, but it just doesn't sound good unless my voice is really on! True, but he holds it pretty long. And I agree about LIJ. I think he was so determined to avoid a lot of falsetto this album, that he stopped himself a few notes short in lovers. Once in falsetto singing becomes pretty easy for Chris, but he can't really do that here, which is why wavers sometimes during live performances. Because it's a not a range that he sings very often.
February 19, 200917 yr At the end of The Hardest Part too, when he goes 'oh and that's the hardest part, that's the hardest part, yeah that's the hardest part, that's the hardest paaart.' Especially that last 'hardest part' is pretty low. And in Swallowed in The Sea, at some points, it's just too low.
February 19, 200917 yr Moral of this thread: Chris is a good singer. Or we're all just bad singers. :P
February 19, 200917 yr I'd imagine the females here would have a lot more difficulty with songs like Yes, but you'd probably be able to sing Shiver better than most of the men here! And in Swallowed in The Sea, at some points, it's just too low. Hence why I can actually do SITS fairly well. I'm actually not horrible with Lovers. It certainly doesn't sound nearly as awful as when I attempt Shiver or X&Y, anyways. :\ Moral of this thread: Chris is a good singer. Or we're all just bad singers. :P EVERYONE is a bad singer compared to Chris. =D
February 19, 200917 yr i agree with most everything here. but it really depends what gender you are, hahahhah. like, i can sing lovers in japan and fix you alright, but i sound terrible trying to sing yes.
February 19, 200917 yr haha well i sound terrible singing any song. i cant sing to save my life!
February 19, 200917 yr Well yeah, the gender part is very true :P I was talking as a girl, but I think that some boys might have trouble with Chris' low notes anyways :P
February 19, 200917 yr Yes The Scientist (yes I have trouble with it without sounding like a retard) Yellow with the "you know I'd bleed myself dry" because it goes low The Hardest Part's a bit tricky for me Politik, also, bit difficult Viva La Vida I cannot sing it. Just... blegh. 1.36 Amsterdam is bleh SITS low parts Lovers In Japan is tricky tooo
February 19, 200917 yr Viva La Vida I cannot sing it. Just... blegh. I don't sing Viva either. I scream it.
February 19, 200917 yr ^^^Haha...I don't care how bad I sound when I sing Viva...I love it to pieces so I sing my out of tune heart out!
February 19, 200917 yr I'm ok at Amsterdam, except for the end part. That's just too low for me. Viva, well it's hard to do that one without screaming :p
February 19, 200917 yr Chris's range, as has been said, is pretty large. So it makes a lot of songs hard to sing. Key wise, "Speed of Sound" is a bit hard. "Fix You" has been mentioned. "Politik" just sounds ridiculous being sung in the car at all. lol. It is another really hard one. "Viva La Vida" is hard in some parts.
February 19, 200917 yr Like this thread! Has anyone tried karioke coldplay songs? I did Shiver and the Hardest part the other day and just completely went for it!:) Would love to sing viva in karioke, think it would go down well but they dont have it yet.
February 19, 200917 yr Most of the songs are pretty hard to sing, especially for a girl. He hits higher notes but also very low ones. I try to sing the songs but I'm not very good at it although I'm not a bad singer.
February 19, 200917 yr Would love to sing viva in karioke, think it would go down well but they dont have it yet. I've seen some karaoke screens for Viva, and they all have the wrong lyrics in places (every one I've seen has "St. Peter WILL call my name"). Granted, I probably wouldn't need a cue screen for it, but it still ticks me off.:veryangry2:
