Hey all,

 

I happened to catch an American Idol contestant perform 'Viva La Vida' just a moment ago on TV ...it wasn't that great lol. Obviously no one does it better than Coldplay and this guy is no Chris Martin. He can sing but that song has a certain degree of epic-ness that he just didn't achieve. Simon also implied that Coldplay was pop, which I sorta disagree with but maybe he was just referring to the song.

 

Anyway, just thought I'd share :). If it pops up on Youtube I'll post the link.

i saw one girl last year perform "here comes the sun" and i died a little inside.

beatles covers are worst than any other cover in my opinion D: although i did looove "across the universe."

oh god it was horrible. when I heard him say he was singing it, my initial thought was "nnnnnnooooo"

I dunno, I don't think i've ever seen another artist's version of a coldplay song and thought it was good. However, I did like adele and mark ronson when they did GPASOYF

Just watched it, my ears are bleeding. WTF he should be shot.

I thought his voice was still alright, but the arrangement. Oh god. The arrangement was terrible. And the way they redid the lyrics.. It was all over the place. What on earth is up with the drumming for the song?

David Cook did an awesome version of Elinor Rigby though...

 

Wont see the cover of Viva La Vida.

I was excited at first when he said he was going to perform Viva, but then he totally butchered it. It's a song that you need to put your heart into when you sing it and he sang it too softly and he really did not do it justice.

Going against the usual trend of the runner-up acheiving moar success than the winner, Jessica Mauboy's albums and singles completely sunk in the seven seas. Nobody knows what the crap happened to her and they don't really care.
