I have a friend who actually has TWO iPod classics he carries with him in his pocket. He has one set of high-quality headphones he plugs into one at a time. One of them is white and contins all his artists (assorted #s)-L (or I think it's L). The other is black and has the rest of L-everything else.

That's completely unrelated. I'm sorry. :P

Nice :P

*makes note to self to mug Noonsun's friend*

haha

he's also thinking about getting an iTouch just so that he can stroke it's lovely interactive screen.

I think he may have an Apple fetish or something. :P

my name is Sara btw. Everyone seems to be on a first-name basis here, so.

Hey Sara :)

(sorry I'm just crap with names)

Tell him to get an iPhone :P

See that's the sad thing: he's pretty sure he's getting one for his birthday anyway.

And he's STILL thinking about getting an iTouch. With his OWN MONEY. That he EARNED. I have some odd friends.

*^_^*

OMG! I want one!

*^_^* sorry--lost context for a moment--saw your post (quoted above) then saw pic insert of jonny... momentarily quite confused! :D

so about the actual topic of the forum :) --i just finished watching the apple tour about the new shuffle, and while small is good if you are using it for while you exercise, voice-over is entertaining, and it's great that it has a new playlist feature, i don't think that i would like having the controls on the earbuds cord; i'm way too hard on earbuds--tend to damage and lose them not infrequently! there is also the "don't actually need it (a new shuffle)" side of things, too. ^_^ fun forum though! thanks!

Thats good, its always interesting to get some opinions. I dont need it, but its an interesting direction that apple are going with the headphone controls.

Yeah, what if the earphones get lost or break? One would need to buy the exact same pair again, which is probably very expensive. What if one wants to use another pair of ear/headphones? The Apple ones usually aren't very good quality (unless they've improved since I last used them... they couldn't have improved that much).

Lyric, that's what happens when you have a rich multinational corporation make something. One of the first things they ask is: "How much extra crap can we sell when this breaks?" :P

Look at the iTouch screen. That thing breaks ridiculously easily and replacement are pretty expensive. That's also part of the reason why Apple makes so much money for protective cases.

Eh, I love Apple and iPods are incredible... BUT their earphones are crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean, what happens if you want to use another kind of earphones... or if you wanna buy a new pair? I bet they'd be a bitch to replace.

I'll get it when their quality on earphones goes up.

Some 3rd party headphone manufactures are already working on replacements with the controls built in.

But to be honest, the idea of the shuffle is just to put a lotta songs on it and hit shuffle as you can't really control it.

I don't know what the point is in having such a small iPod.

No way..ipod touch all the way!!

I don't know what the point is in having such a small iPod.

The idea was to put it onto your body and listen to songs when out jogging/running etc.

Yeah David...........

Yeah but wouldn't the nanos work just as well? Plus you would be able to select songs and see what they are. Ah, well I guess I understand lol

The shuffle came out before the Nano I think.

It was either the hard-drive based iPod mini (hard-drive = not good if you jumping up and down as you have moving parts) or the flash-memory based shuffle

So the ipod touch has flash memory, not a hard drive?

I believe it has, the only iPod which still has a hard-drive is the classic, the others have flash memory

Ah i see,are there any advantages to either of them?

Flash memory generally runs a bit quicker and connects to iTunes a little quicker too... my old clunky Classic (the first classic) almost crashes any computer it's connected to. It's been known to crash iTunes several times too

Ah i see,are there any advantages to either of them?

Flash memory has no moving parts so it can be bumped around without causing the music to skip, and no moving parts means there is fewer things to go wrong.

In the future computers will have flash-memory hard-drives
