... Nah, I wish :P

I have a 1.7Ghz Philips Laptop, which has been slowly running out of steam for at least a year now. My DVD drive has lost it's plasitc front cover and it can slip out of the computer just by tilting it to one side. It has Vista and it loves to crash when I'm working on important stuff. It also fell off my desk a week ago and now one of my USB ports is screwed, yay :P

Not sure if I have a picture of it as it is, though this is what it should look like if I actually took more care of it:

Hard-Drive size: 160 GB

Ram: 2GB (you'd never know it, though :dozey:. it's got some bum drivers/registry problems that i'm cleaning out this week).

Operating System: vista ultimate

What Optical Drives (CD/DVD/Blu-Ray) it has: no optical drives; it's too thin. i've got this ultra-base thingy that snaps onto the bottom when i need a CD/DVD-RW drive, but it's annoying.

How old the system roughly is: a year and a half

What the manufacturer is: IBM/lenovo, customized.

but without the weird bump thing on the right side of the screen :P. it's basically a cross between a netbook and a regular laptop because it doesn't look it, but it's REALLY small.

I have Keyboard.

You built your computer?? :shocked2: That is sheer skill and dedication.

Last year my teacher told us that her son was building a computer but couldn't find the appropriate RAM. She gave us an optional assignment of searching for one on the web, and whoever found it would have their mark raised by 1-2% :laugh3: I obviously didn't try because I'm technologically challenged when it comes to computer parts

But anyway, I need a trustworthy laptop for university next year. Any recommendations?

basically, buy a mac :P

i plan to buy a mac the next time around. it's going to be a pain to get used to, but the reliability is far superior to most PCs.

Hey we use those at schools! :D

^^My baby right there. 13" Macbook, pretty standard.

I was thinking about getting a Macbook because of all the great things I hear about them but is it worth the price?

I could buy almost 2 Dell Inspiron Studio 15's (which I'm really considering) for the price of one Macbook. Also, I have no idea how to work one and I find I'm so used to using Windows..

people rarely have technical issues and failures with macs, as far as i can tell. that's enough to sell me, i think, since i wrestle with PCs and their crashes and slowness all the time. i also just like apple in general :P.

then again, i'm a bit of a computer snob (though an ignorant one). i'd probably only ever buy IBM, apple, and HP :P.

I hate the lag of my PC computer. Such a slug.

But usually I just end up sticking to brands that I already use and know. I guess I'm pretty influenced by big name brands for stuff like this :P

Considering I have an iPod and a HP printer that works pretty well, I was thinking of going with either of the two brands. But then I thought of Dell because that's what our school district school board uses. If it's good enough for the entire school board then I suppose it'd be reliable enough for me haha.

We'll see when the back to school deals starting coming around....
