Ahhh Jenn, you're not coming often (:whip: ) but when you do, it's always a pleasure! :sneaky:

Ep8: a CHHAAAARLEEEEES episode *w* He finally concluded with his ugly french girl...(btw, her father is not a french in real life but an american/canadien who tried to pass for a french XD ) I have to admit that when Charles said to her 'je t'aime', I was :awesome: 'meeee tooo' in front of my laptop XD Henry is so cute when he speaks french (even if he's really bad at it!). Charles' son 'Henry' (I guess it's another boy he had with Catherine Willougbhy since his first one was Edward on the show) is mentionned a few time in this epi.

On the king's side: what a douchebag on this epi! Towards his sick soldiers or poor Chapuis...è.é I was very moved by Chapuis' scenes on this episode. When he left the court or his farewell to Lady Mary was really moving!

As Catherine Parr: a true queen! GO GIRL!

The preview for epi 9 is on showtime's site: Henry looks really old and fat :stunned: (about time XD!) I can't believe there is only 2 episodes left! :bigcry:

Oh snap! I must catch up now....:escaping:

Ok, back with episode 9!!! Couldn't watch it yesterday, I've DL a file that was a fake...such a waste of time :bomb: So today, I've managed to catch the right one and it's kinda weird to see how Henry has aged! His voice is even deeper (hence weirder to me) and they put more make-up on him (and all others, beloved Charles included). We get to see Charles (second?) son Henry who is such a grown up :stunned: Why didn't they show Edward, since we've seen him from the beginning??? Anyway, less Charles than last, yesterday epi was all about the heresy and torture... Poor Anne Askew!!! It's one of the worst torture/death of the show!

I fear for the Queen, but *hopefully* the king will die before she'll get into trouble...! Mary is getting bloodier with time but I was so sad for Chapuis' death

Preview for the last episode on showtime's site...I don't want it to end!!! :bigcry:

The king is dead :bigcry:

This episode was really moving... I managed NOT to cry when Charles died or when the wifes' ghosts apparead (was SO GOOD to see KoA and Anne again!! Such strong women!), and NOT when Henry bid farewell to his kids and Catherine Parr (who almost get arrested..poor woman!) but with the last scene where they told the 'end of the story' in his portrait, I was teary...

I don't want it to end, it was so good!!! :bigcry: I'm gonna really miss this show... Now, I'm looking forward to The Borgias, Hirst next project with Jeremy Irons.

Speaking of Hirst, there an ITV of him on showtime (same place as usual) where he talks about the 'after Henry' aka Edward, Lady Jane Grey, Mary & Elizabeth ^^

So there was this one boy at my orientation who looked exactly like an 18-year-old Henry Cavill with a buzz cut. :shocked2:

^ oooh la la

did you get a name or anything?? ;)

still need to catch up so I'll bid all adieu

  • Author

No, no name getting. But on day 1 at the welcoming ceremony him and his dad and his friend sat next to me and my mom. They kept sort of looking at me, so that's how I first noticed him. Orientation was only 2 days long, but we made a lot of eye contact the whole time...

Why does that kind of stuff NEVER happen to me ??!!! Anyway, good luck with your clone :P

So nobody watch the finale yet?! Come on girls :whip:

Haha well that kind of thing doesn't usually happen to me either, but I got lucky I guess!

But I doubt I'll ever see him again. My incoming freshman class has like 4,200 people, so I really don't think I'll be seeing/meeting most of them.

:shame: Yah, I feel bad. I couldn't watch it when it first came out (I can't remember why, but there was some reason....I think it might have come out when I was away?) and then I forgot about it for a few days, then when I remembered it again I didn't want to watch it (:disappointed:) cause I wasn't ready for it to be over yet. But then last night I thought, why haven't I watched it yet? This is just silly!

So I did finally watch it, and it was beautiful. Very nostalgic for me. I never cry when I watch movies or shows, but I can get close, and I did get close. It was so lovely! I really really loved the montage that they put when he first sees his good portrait. It made me remember all those great times in the previous seasons, as well as appreciate how hot he actually used to be! (I need to go back and watch them again, when they were both hot :sneaky:)

One thing I didn't get, was why Elizabeth stomped off after Henry told them he was making them go. She didn't even get all sad or cry or anything, she just stood there emotionless, and then when he walked away she threw down Kate's hand and stomped off.

Henry baby :bomb: It's always so good to be on this thread....

I think that deep down, she resent him for killing her mom and made her a bastard. She was nice to him cause he was the king and she knew she had to stay put to stay alive, but now that he's gone, she's 'free'...so she didn't care anymore. I think she never really had a profond affection for him (unlike Mary who worshiped him).

To be honest I never really got why Mary loved him so much. He was (IMO) worse to her mother than to Elizabeth's. AND the whole religion thing.

But can we talk about his death dream? IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL. :wacky:

Because he was good to her when she was a child (contrary to Elizabeth). Plus, Mary has a strong morality and devotion for autority so she respects the king more than anything. The fact that he reinstored her in his good grace and after in the succession is a sufficient proof for her that he loved her beside all the drama with her mother. She wanted to be loved by her dad, so she got a grip on any little sign of affection he could show her (even the twisted ones).

Elizabeth on the contrary was not impressed and she saw through his game. She knew she was only a pawn to him so she did her filial duties diligently but never fell for his sudden affection...

+1

The horse, the young Henry, the moon, the death rider (reminded of the LOTR black riders)...it was very poetic! But I prefer the wives apparitions (pity they didn't show Katherine Howard, even if Anne mention her). And the final scene with the portrait is just beautifully done!!! I prefer that than seeing him dying on his bed like Charles. It's more powerful I think...dunno why?!

Well good for Elizabeth, she don't take no crap!

And notice how the daughter that didn't fall for his tricks became the good queen, as opposed to Mary.

Yah, I was kind of surprised they didn't have Kitty either, but then I realized they were only doing the dead queens who gave him children. Natalie was marvelous. :wacky:

Yah I definitely know what you mean, having the whole portrait part and the death dream instead of the actual death. I liked that a lot too. I thought it was a lovely finale to the show, and somehow it felt really short to me although I guess it wasn't.

I really want to go back and re-watch the first and second seasons, at least.

Yep! And I love the irony of life: the bastard became the greatest queen of England... :D He wanted to be famous for his acts as a king, he was remember for his wives and she, on the contrary, did everything he didn't do and made England the greatest conuntry of that time! He was a womenizer and married 6 times and she never married and called herself 'the virgin queen'...I guess seeing all the disaster that marriages brought to her dad, she learnt her lesson!!. On everything, she did the total opposite!

I think I'll do that too and rewatch all the seasons but for now, I'm mourning :bigcry:

On the news front: They just announced the Emmy nominations. The Tudors has been nominated in a few categories : Art Direction. Cinematography, Costumes and Hair Styling. No acting nominations sadly. Seriously, no Emmy for JRM??!!! :whip:

And apparently Natalie is set to play the late Queen mother in Madonna's Wallis Simpson movie.

Nathalie said: “This country tends to remember the Queen Mother as a rather wrinkly 97 year-old, but I am playing her when she was quite an enchanting, engaging twenty and thirtysomething,” Natalie Dormer told me. “She was quite a savage and savvy game player.”"

Sounds interesting....but I don't know about Madonna doing this film...I'm a little scared...

Haha yah, Elizabeth definitely learned. If there was one thing that Henry taught her it was to do the opposite of whatever he does. :P

But yah, that's really weird! I can't believe it didn't get any acting nominations or best show nominations or anything. Well at least it got a few! I hope they win one or two of them.

So is Madonna producing, or directing, or what?

But yay for Natalie! <3

She's awesome.

Producing, writing and directing...! But I'm a little scared of what she'll do with the story... Her previous movies were not exactly great...But maybe they'll shoot some parts in France :sneaky: the castle were Wallis & Edward get married is about 10 km from where I live :D
