Halcyon Digest is not the easiest album to get into, but I'm starting to really like it :nice:

This. I just listened to it for the second or third time and its the first I've ever heard of them. I'll probably have to listen to it a few more times before I'm into it but I'm wondering on where I should go from here.

I think I'm in love. :dead:

People, wanna get into bands? Start with their first album instead of listening to the most recent one.

Halcyon Digest, in my opinion, is a 9/10.

Yeah but Deerhunter's first album is vomit-inducingly bad almost. Hahaha.

The weird ambient-punk thing they were going for on Turn it Up, Faggot is basically the biggest musical disappointment I've had in a while. :/

I know, lolz, but seriously I don't understand why people go for recent instead of listening to the first to see the evolution.

Because they've heard good things about the recent album? I usually get the most recent if I'm interested and then go backwards in some fashion if I like them, although sometimes I start at the beginning of a band's discography. I don't usually care too much about seeing the band's evolution or whatever unless I really like them and am really interested in them.

^That.

Halcyon Digest was actually my first album, and lately I've been listening to the earlier stuff too.

Yeah, but sometimes (would be RH's case, I guess) people would listen to IR and think "wat", go back a bit and go "OH ME LIKE".

I think my main point is.. people getting so influenced by the popularity of an album, which is meeeh.

If you're interested just listen to the damn band, not their overhyped album atm.

Also, I don't understand why so many people find Microcastle hard to get into D: I actually think it's not that hard to get into it.

You need patience though.

I got Cryptograms and Microcastle at roughly the same time, took a while but at first I adored a few songs and then during one listen of each they both just clicked massively and I went around blithering and only listening to Deerhunter for a while. I think a lot of people to through that with this band, I wonder why...

Yes, this happened to me too!

Couldn't find illegitimate means of getting hold of that so looked into buying it online. Only £3.50. If all music was this price I'd buy so much more.

Now just waiting to get paid.

Breath taking Deerhunter live EPs ftw ! :sweatdrop:
