Also, you shouldn't let Al Gore's bullshit stop you from buying a nice car. I'm sure by the time you're old enough to afford a nice car like that they'll be super efficient anyway. (as long as the government doesn't try to interfere)

Yes, I shall save up heavy for that car

The trouble with Gore's thing is that he poses like a simplified good (pro-environmental stuff) against a simplified evil (makers of cars, roads etc) which is filled with flaws. But hey, it works to our morals.

(and now, back to the 'Are you a good driver' thread)

I truly believe I am a good driver... but isn't that what 99% of people say even though their passengers tell otherwise???

So basically I learned how to drive (stickshift) over the past three days. I cannot imagine how easy driving automatic must be.

I'm a good driver but I'm terrible for doing things like speeding and parking badly not because I can't park but mostly because I can't be bothered and don't care, the parent and child spaces in car parks are definatly fair game too.

I can park pretty well just going into it (as long as I'm not going in at a weird angle--the other day at the dentist, I was almost embarrassed to leave my car as crookedly parked as it was :P), but back-in parking or parallel parking is a total no-go for me :P. I'd rather park far away and walk than parallel park or back-in park.

I envy you. Stick shift is the best.

I must admit that I don't really personally see the advantage in stick shift. While I'm certainly not experienced with it, I have driven manual before and learned on manual, and I just...rather not have to think about one more thing while I'm driving. I don't really find it that fun, but perhaps that's because I'm not experienced enough with it to have it be unconscious and automatic yet.

Someday I think I'll figure out the advantage and enjoy it, but for now I just like automatic...it makes me feel safer.

Well I know you're all gung-ho about global warming. Stick shift saves gas.

Cars that do over 25 miles to the gallon are too politically correct and evil:P

isn't it illegal to drivew smart cars on the highway?

I actually like driving with stick shift! It's just way too boring to drive an automatic :( It's a shame that the only family car we have is an automatic boohoo. The rest are more van type of cars and I'm not much into driving cars like these:

Driving an automatic is like driving a freaking go cart. Any kid could do it. Manual forces you to know the car and be involved in the driving experience. It costs less and it's more environmentally friendly. And of course, if you're planning on ever driving something like this, or even if you're not at least you know you could, then stick shift is the only way to go:

:D

-this car is my life

I've hit two cars and had caused damage that costed $4000 of repair in one month time...and I'm driving automatic.

So yeah...I'm a pretty bad driver....:P

driving big cars isn't really a problem for me.. it's just that they don't go fast enough hahaha  plus i usually only drive in the city and driving a van there is just pointless and annoying

I'm afraid that if I start driving I'll get into accidents :uhoh:

Driving is the number 2 cause of accidents, Women are the number 1 cause of accidents.

i love to bash women drivers for their mistakes. I, of course, never make mistakes.
