About your question: The Joe Satriani song is called "If I could fly" and the Coldplay song that is a little similar is Viva la Vida. But Coldplay haven’t covered Satriani's song and they have definitely not made a remix of it! The melodies just happen to be a little similar in some places but that happens, I mean people have been writing music on this planet for ages, then thinking you have written a completely new melody would be stupid! Just look at how it went for Satriani: Cat Stevens claimed HE had written to song before Satriani! :P

Listen to Coldplay’s “Viva la Vida”, Satriani’s “If I could fly” and Cat Stevens’ “Foreigner suite”, they are all kind of similar, but who cares? Viva la Vida is the bets one anyway!!!
