Well, your the expert.

What about my expert?

I think that obama deception theory is bullshit. People think too complexely about politics. America isn't run by one man, he can't handle all the problems on his own, he has help from others, and therefore, anything bad cannot entirely be blamed on Obama. These theories probably originate from a party who's views differ from the views of the democrats, and possibly even come from those who oppose democracy. It's an attempt to win over people who will easily believe these kinds of things. Watching that was like watching a Michael Moore film - completely biased and deceitful. And besides,Coldplay gave a shout out to Obama on SNL.

So fucking what?

Coldplay loves Obama, so obviously we must bow down to him too.

I saw that, I wish they hadn't done it. They took a perfectly good song and ruined it by putting an Obama period at the end of it.

How does it ruin it? They can support whoever the fuck they want to.

And Jay can dislike whatever the fuck he wants to.

Chris has said in the past he never wants to commercialize any of their music...

What's the difference between using your music to sell a product and using your music to endorse a political candidate?

I hope once it becomes glaringly obvious Obama has utterly flopped as a president and reneged on most of his campaign promises (as it should be already, but whatever), Chris Martin becomes sufficiently sad/emotional to produce some awesome music for their next LP.

You don't buy votes.

Supporting a human/ideology is not the same as going "Drink Coca Cola" at the end.

Aaron, if you see this please don't have an apoplectic fit! :laugh3:

Part of me still sees as Obama as this really cool guy. Maybe in over his head but trying to get his shit together. He probably has to think to himself, on a daily basis, holy fucking shit. What did I get myself into. Oh well. I sure hope he does some great stuff soon, otherwise it will be next to impossible to defend the guy.

What about my expert?

Have you even studied political science? At the least, a high school level? I don't think you have. Your just ranting. So don't call me ignorant when I voice my opinion, which is less biased than then topic of which we speak.

This is how he won the election.

(along with the hatred of Bush)

Hey man, Obama's chill in my book. Opinion of course but he is. I did not vote for him in the primary though;)

I agree that he looks like a pretty classy guy, and someone who'd be fun to hang out with for a day (compared to most politicians)...but you can't deny the fact that this "coolness" is what won him half his votes.

His coolness factor didn't cost him any votes that's for sure. I 'm alright with Obama, he was not my first choice for president. I'll defend him as best I can(It's been pretty hard lately.)

what did you guys think of the speech tonight?

  • Author

Well spoken as always but he was all flash no substance. He tried to appeal to everyone, saying they will get exactly what they want but that is not true.

He was wrong on the deficit, it will add to the deficit, bipartisan groups have shown this. It will take the first 10 years of funding to pay for the first 8 years of his plan, than after that the CBO estimates the next decade it will cost a lot more.

It will drive prices up not down, along with waste of billions. If Medicare and Medicaid have so much waste, why wasn't it fixed earlier? Or at least fix that first than move onto something like he wants, first prove you can do what no one else has done and fix those programs.

Tort reform will save a lot of money, but Obama like the Democratic Party and a lot of the Republicans are owned by lawyers, thus they do not want tort reform, which should be one of the key reforms.

Even if he has good intentions for his plan, like most other plans it will make things worse and cost more. We can bring down costs by tort reform, allowing people to buy insurance across state lines and preventive medicine. Creating a government bureaucracy will not stop waste and allocate money well. Look how bad Medicare and Medicaid are and how much waste. As Obama even said they can't even run the post office!

Saw Obama's speech last night and he's right. Do all the sceptics actually believe that right wing bullshit?

People understand it will add to a deficit that already is going to cause a lot of damage. Our government can't run our other programs they're all broke.

People are just being real, government just took over major auto makers, banks, wall st and now wants to take over even more after its failed with most its programs and is broke.

It's not "right wing", a lot of these people are independents who don't believe Obama's lies, he cannot back up his claims, non partisan groups have said he was wrong on many of his key points last night.

Like I said before, even if the government could run a NHS well we simply are too broke to afford it.

Seems like his last speech was brilliant :nice:

It was a good speech. Will be interesting to see how it all pans out.

I fucking came when the guy yelled "YOU LIE!"

If the American Congress were more like the British Parliament, C-Span's ratings would go through the roof. MORE YELLING IN CONGRESS PLEASE. ;)
