Up&Up was a successful long song for sure :) Much better than Champagne Supernova or All Around The World imo.....and im speaking as a huge Oasis fan :) But I still think those two songs are too long and repetitive while Up&Up remains fresh to my ears even after repeated listenings.

Its part of why they are long epic songs yes hehe But I dont think its as well executed if after a while I feel "ok this is getting a bit boring". I dont feel that about Up&Up so thats why I think it was better executed as an "epic" song. Another well executed one is Bohemian Rhapsody imo.

Yes. Up&Up is a song they did a good job on. Their best one is Death and All His Friends, in my opinion. I don't like Chris's comment about the new album where he says they wrote longer songs but Stargate shortened them down. If a song wants to be long, let it be long. They are good songwriters most of the time and know what they're doing, Coldplay doesn't need an outside influence to shorten their tracks.

That really sucks. Now I know how bad Stargate is for ruining these tracks and shortening them. Thats really dumb. Dont know why theyd do that.

Wow you're right, I'm sorry. I never knew the exact time length of DAAHF since The Escapist is at the end on the album; I always assumed it was over 4 minutes in length easily and maybe approached 5. It's really 3:38! Dang! So do they have just one long song, Up&Up?

 

For such talented songwriters you'd think they'd have a few 6+ minute songs.
