I need advice

Featured Replies

It is so complicated, though.... :uhoh:

I want to get an MFA (Masters of Fine Arts) in Poetry... There are two universities that stick out in my mind out of the ones I've seen...

Colombia College - Chicago

Miami University

Advice time! :charming:

a) how do I afford this

b) how do I keep my cats... srsly... :wacky:

Sell me your cats. Then you'll have the money, but... you won't have kittehs anymore.

MFA (Masters of Fine Arts) in Poetry oooh get you! Go for the place where you would most enjoy staying. Remember choosing a university or college is about preference of place as well. I had the opportunity to go to Aberdeen University but beause I don't care for the place that much I chose to go and study in Glasgow.

a) how do I afford this

1 - Rob a bank

2 - Marry a rich woman

3 - Fix a casino game to win big

4 - Rob a large shop

5- Work hard

You can try to sell your poetry you've already written and then you'll become a famous snobby poet who can do anything and this position will allow you to take your cats to university

They go for 50,000 $ each :wacky:, since I trained one how to fetch, and the other how to read your soul.

This is great advice! I was thinking about Miami and Chicago, and both cities sound very good to me.... Chicago especially... I think I'll pick that university if I can. I've also been thinking about affordability... I'm not sure which will be better for that.

:surprised: I like this idea! And I might need to publish anyway... I've never tried it to be honest... I'm sure someone will pay me 15 $ for a poem, just 3,000 more poems to go :wacky:

that's gonna be cruel but that way you'll "solve" both problems.

sell your cats to cruella de vil or mr burns

There is just one thing about that which disturbs me: If you sell your poems and become famous and you'll be an idol for other young poets....nobody will appreciate that you go to university to do such a master in poetry....and I am afraid even you won't appreciate it anymore..:uhoh:

I will buy your poem:blush:

I must admit.....I'd have loved to go to a university to study music there or soething like that....but all these things were too expensive...so I thought I have to live with it and that's it...pretty dumb actually...I never really thought about how I could do it

How about grants? Scholarships?

that's what I'm going to do... I'm just not sure how much will be covered

The reason I want to go to a university is so that I can teach poetry to your children  I think it's my purpose in life, because I haven't found another one :uhoh:

Good wages from a job and some grants. In Scotland we don't have to pay tuition fees which is a big weight of our shoulders. I get a loan to cover for living costs but that's all.

I think you can only apply for funding after you got offered a place. Not sure how it works in the US though.

I like that idea. So it's some kind of teacher thingy? I thought it was just to improve your style, etc...you will probably give so many lives a meaning:blush:

I wish I knew how you could afford the money to do it:\

Man I wish I could do that! I should get a decent amount of grants, though, since I'm not a dependent.

We can apply for funding, but I won't get a dollar amount until I'm accepted

I'd let you teach poetry to my kittehs, but never to my kiddies. :anxious:

Eric may I ask what future a MFA in Poetry will have? I understand most degrees are BS, but good for a resume.
