Best U2 Album

Featured Replies

india rubber really don't like U2

my favourite album is " how to dismantle an atomic bomb"

because the WHOLE album is awesome, i love every single song in it...

I only voted Joshua Tree because that's the only U2 album I've listened too

My mom forced me :laugh3:

Achtung Baby because it is quite simply exceptional. Without doubt the best album of the 90s. Stunning album.

The Joshua Tree is brilliant but it's so obviously not their best. Achtung Baby, War and even The Unforgettable Fire are better.

This.

And this.

Achtung Baby is by far my favourite U2 album. The only song I don't like on it is Trying To Throw Your Arms Around the World. I love the emotion in the songs, I love how they didn't play it safe after the Joshua Tree. I think that Bono's vocals and lyrics are brilliant on the album (Acrobat has my favourite lyrics), the Edge proves to be a guitar legend...just listen to the emotion he portrays through Love is Blindness.

Another vote for Achtung Baby. While I like nearly every track on The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby has more tracks that I LOVE.

One, Until the End of the World, Even Better Than the Real Thing, The Fly, Mysterious Ways, Ultraviolet, it goes on. Talk about one killer album that not only churns out hits left and right, but has a treasure trove of non-hits that are just as special.

As all good mothers should! :laugh3:

Joshua Tree because its virtually a perfect album. The first five and last two tracks are pristine and connect..well...perfectly. I could write a much more dimensional response describing the intricacies of the whole thing, but I'll just say the obvious: its f-ing amazing.

Joshua Tree gets my vote, the first 5 songs on that album never cease to amaze me. Unforgettable Fire comes in at a close second.

The Unforgettable Fire. Very raw sort of album, great musicianship. The transitional era from Boy/October/War to The Joshua Tree, where I felt they were really starting to define their sound as a band and evolve from that sort of "baby" era. Very wonderful tracks, albeit it I sometimes question the track order, but it's by far my favourite album. In fact, I regard it is my favourite album of all time by any band.

In fact, I'm gonna go give that one a spin now.

ACHTUNG BABY got my vote because it is a very very good, excellent and unique album AND - it has got "ONE" on it. You can say that ACHTUNG BABY is the ONE. :D

And for the time being we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. And ACHTUNG BABY was recorded in Berlin, Germany. And ONE was written on the eve of the reunification of GERMANY.

So both for the beautiful songs and the HISTORY of that album: ACHTUNG BABY. It is simply king :crown:::crown:: :heart: :dance: :sunny::sunny: :operator::operator: :clap: :thumbsup:

Unforgettable fire is probably my favorite, but I don't know if it is their best. I like the mood and atmosphere of that album. For me, it's the most emotional U2 album.

What I love best about Achtung Baby is The Edge. I never get tired of that ELECTRIC solo in The Fly! And Until The End Of The World is another mega song! I also absolutely love Zoo Station as the opener! Epic!

I agree

Oh and I also think October is harshly criticised by some U2 fans. There are some lovely little gems on that one like Gloria, Tommorow, October and Rejoice. In fact October should be brought back into the set list behind New Years Day.

I find that Zooropa and Pop are extremely overlooked albums. I haven't listened to too much early U2 though. Mostly Unforgettable Fire to present

I agree. Zooropa is a fairly well received album though but Pop wasn't as much. But Pop's so unique in its sound. I love Mofo, and Discotheque is incredibly funky. Wake Up Dead Man, Staring At The Sun and If God Will Send His Angels are all really good songs as well. My favourite song from either album though is Lemon. What a fanastic song. Absolutely love it. What Zooropa was all about. It made that album. I remember hearing Lemon for the first ever time as well as seeing the video and I just didn't get it. I thought it was so weird at first and I didn't get it. Then the second time I heard it, it clicked and then the third time I realised it was pure brilliance!

from Zooropa I heard Stay, but it wasn't until about a few months that I rediscovered it and now it's my fav. U2 song... just great

If you're going to listen to their early albums listen to War. Easily in the top 3 U2 albums. New Years Day is amazing as well as Drowning Man!

Joshua Tree

I love I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For!! :D

I rate October fairly high, though I am well aware I am in a minority in doing so. I think it's a rather good one. Some of my favourite tracks (Tomorrow, October and Scarlet) are on it. Unfortunately, it's well overshadowed and gets the axe dropped on it by most fans.
