It's funny but not good

I suppose Keren Ann can be consider as a european artist (in fact I never heard anything from her)

And nobody knows who is Coralie Clement in France

Keren Ann oficially is from Israel i think, she sang in french her first 2 albums if i remember well, that's why i'm asking.

 why the roll eyes on CC?

ok those and Benjamin Biolay are mainly the 'french' artist i knew, well also Tryo and Teté, Mylène Farmen, and ya know, Indo. that's mainly it. :|

Your knowledge isn't poor at all!

French people don't know many foreign group (apart English and American bands).

He sings in English but he is French and it's beautiful :

It seems that French don't like French music :(

Here is an other French artist that I like : Jeanne Cherhal

yeah i heard about jeanne cherhal for her collabs with Benjamin Biolay

i have to check cascadeur better. :)

thanks for keeping the thread alive.

The song she did with Benjamin Biolay is really good!

But I have to say that even if I like Jeanne Cherhal, Benjamin has better songs.

Has anyone mentioned Malajube yet? If not, I just did. :P

I love them !

Has anyone heard of Karkwa?

They're amazing !

Listened to an apparently metal/shoegaze band called Alcest the other day, they were pretty gud.

i  benjamin music even if it can be too :freak: at times.

according to my sources she also did the vocals for Tout ça me tourmente for his last album La Superbe.

I wish he would come to play near my place again. :( his concert was awesome :D

shame not many people really knew him here :dozey:

:awesome:

erm that doesn't sound metal to me... anyways i'll check them better, thanks.

I don't think it is either, thaty's why I said "apparently", haha. Their first album according to Wikipedia was straight-up black metal but that song especially just sounds like indie rock. I think you can hear some of the metal influences a little better in some of the other songs, but...

Vocalist really reminds me of Jonas Bjerre too haha.

I love them !

I think we already talk a bit about Karkwa. And you're right they are really good! Their is a thread about them http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=72991

I hope you can see him one day. I missed few chances to see him this year :(.

i can't complain i got to see him once already (thankfully my city organizes a 3 weeks festival in july devoted to a country, so we had one for France) and with his sister Coralie Clément... and someone else who i don't know who was cause was a surprise guest he brought to stage, i guess might be Yelle, dunno  (would had been :awesome: if they played with a local band who's singer is french called After Many Days, thought they play hard rock/metal/rap style and he used to sang in french more with his previous band Clom, or Keren Ann whose concert was due for the day before but got cancelled cause 30 mins before the show it rained :( :bigcry: Keren you yet owe me a concert in my city :bigcry: )

was in july 2008 when he was promoting Trash YeYe album.

concert was :awesome: i managed to get close to the stage and i was looking at guitarist to see his style, and the keyboardist.

i loved the teremin or however it is called.

naughty boy made us wait to the double encore to play the 'qu'est-ce que ça peut faire?' (?) in kinda acoustic way.

Might be the near city Jazz festival brirngs him some time, i don't know why he is also labeled as Jazz musician, might be for his trumpeting

Here a band I really like, they're called Tahiti 80 and have been around for a long while now but they're strangely not very known in here (but are super famous in Japan and south america XD). Their sound is kinda 'beach boys' like and sing in english. Plus, they're super nice dudes!

Their most famous track

New single :awesome:

and a vintage one:

yay, i got to check them in 2008 or so

have i mentioned here the band Tryo? :uhoh:

have i mentioned here the band Tryo? :uhoh:

They're famous ^^ I'm not really into them but they have catchy songs and great lyrics! My fav is 'désolé pour hier soir" (=sorry for last night), which is basically the storytale of a night out of a drunken guy and all the crazy things he's done but that he don't remember! XD So he pass all the song apologizing to his friends for his behavior, and promising he will NEVER do it again but at the end, someone invites him for a birthday party so...  It's really funny!

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znSs7uEXCeo]YouTube - Tryo - Désolé pour hier soir[/ame]

In the same vein, if you like Tryo, try Sinsemilia. Favorite song: Le retour des cowboys (the cowboys's return): a song about pathetic men who only like big cars, tuning, a wife like Pamela Anderson that just serves as a cooking/washing machine XD In french we say they are 'beauf' (kinda mean looser.... but I don't know a english word for it...)

Again, the lyrics are priceless XD

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSJKSxnnE_U[/ame]

sinsemilia sounds funny name to me :P

what about Olivia Ruiz? (i remember i checked her music back in 2008).

wow seems i happen to know more about french music than i thought. :uhoh:

hey!

Olivia Ruiz has some kind of funny lyrics, she has her own style, foolish and somewhat special, i like the way she drifts from the normality (in the matter of songs of course).

but i'm not the kind of people who would often listen to her.

anyways, these are my suggestions.

Seeing Phoenix on this, on sunday's episode of the TV show 'Brothers & sisters', one of the youngest character had a Phoenix t-shirt and during all episode, 'older' people told him 'hey, I've never been to Phoenix...' and the guy was always 'it's a BAND!"

shall be Indo there! :whip: :P

I think it represents bands that are quite known outside our borders. Indo are not...
