NO!!! IS STAR 'PLANE!!!! BRISTOL'S FINEST!! Oh come back, come back, oh pale and ethereal star ....

I just made that up :D

This is so sad. It's been so special for so many years - you could set your clock by it, going over from London to Washington - that very special sound. I can't believe it's not going to be seen any longer. :(

I remember in 1999 i was mowing the front lawn in our house in Filton, and Concorde landed at the airport there, jeez the noise that thing made, I thought the bombs were falling due to Kosovo and pissed off russians lol...Such a racket

what in the blimey ?

Doogie, you lived in Filton! In 1998 we moved into our house in Emerson's Green, and just as we arrived with the furniture van Concorde did a circuit right overhead, low, and landed at Filton! It must have been a flypast just for us!!

Yeah I lived in Filton, me and Hicksy lived there for 2 years, I'd been in Horfield for my other 2 years while at Uni. The Filton runway is the longest I believe in europe, and that's why they tested concorde from there first...what with the RR factory just over the other side of the A38...my uni friend was on his placement year at EDS that used RR facilities and he said it was deafening when it came in overhead to land...

Beautiful thing :)

Yeah yeah!! I was at Filton Tech when they were testing the engines slung underneath the Vulcan Bomber, would you believe! They used to sit that thing with its bottom facing our windows and let it rip! EVERYTHING used to vibrate and things would fall off the walls lol!!

Yeah, the runway was extended for Concorde - they flattened a village called Charlton Mead (or Charlton something), and then built a new estate a bit further along and called it by the same name as a sort of token to those poor folks who'd had to be re-housed.

I lived in Horfield before I lived here in Emerson's Green -I lived in Uphill Road, which was just off Springfield Ave - between Downend Road and Muller Road. Know it?

Lol I lived on Muller road for a year near the B&Q (so did Simon) (we lived together a lot) nearly 4 years together now hahahah sucker :P

I know where Downend Road is, and Springfield Ave, went to look at a house there in my 2nd year at Uni, never heard of Emerson's green tho :( sorry.
