London: Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, have offended their neighbours with their security plans.

The 37-year-old actress and Martin, 32, have become embroiled in a dispute with their neighbors in North London over plans to erect a huge metal fence at the bottom of their garden, reports the Telegraph.

The couple has submitted plans to Camden council for a 10-ft barrier to divide the garden of the house that they bought from actress Kate Winslet and her husband, Sam Mendes, for 2.5 million pounds in 2004 from that of their neighbours.

Paltrow and Martin say that they need the fortification, which will replace a smaller wooden fence on top of a brick wall, for security.

However, one neighbour in Belsize Park, who refused to be named, said, "It's rather over the top. Who cares who he is? You can't get round the side of the houses and into the gardens anyway.

"Other houses in the street are as much at risk of opportunist burglaries as his is. We don't ask for huge fences between our homes," the neighbour added.

So concerned about privacy that they go to extraordinary lengths to avoid being photographed together, Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband, the Coldplay singer Chris Martin, have now become embroiled in a dispute with their neighbours in north London over plans to erect a huge metal fence at the bottom of their garden.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAA.

i actually have no comments, so i laughed. :shame:

I think that if the fence is on his side of the house, that should be fine, so long as he is not eating up his neighbour's land.

Well they have to keep living together until they've decided who gets custody of the stripey beanie :P

Damn!

I forgot! :(

Very good point! ;)

And as Chris is tight with money, he can't just buy himself a new one and therefore has to go to court to get custody of this one ...

Well why don't they then? It's not as if they're not allowed to.

Also, other house aren't at as much risk of being bombarded by paps as theirs is, duh.

They're obviously more innundated by people bothering them than anyone else on the street, so wanting extra security is merited. But...I don't know, I think they (meaning mostly Chris) can be a bit paranoid about his privacy, and it sounds a bit much to me...I don't think anyone, pap or fan, has seen anything more than just the front of the house from the street, and a big metal fence isn't going to change that. Maybe they know something we don't, though.

To me it could sound like they don't trust their neighbours... As said, the paps or fans haven't had access to see their back garden, but their neighbours have. As long as the fence doesn't block any view for the neighbours (I'm not talking about view to C and G's garden :P) or take up their property I don't see the big problem.

If the metal fence reflects the sun to the neighbours gardens and makes it hotter for them or something else annoying though, I see a problem.

Edit: What pommeline suggest could be a reason too. :P

Not sure about English backyards, (gardens), but in the US people who have 2 story houses can see into others peoples backyards from the upstairs, maybe it's where the kids will play and they don't want anyone looking down into the garden?? Or maybe naked meditation is on the books:laugh3:
