There's been threads for Thom, Jonny, and Colin (I think)... (we might need a thread for Ed too :P)

anyway. I just figured it'd be good to have a thread on Phil to say how much we like him as a drummer, but also post news on him as well.

For those that do not know he is working/has worked on a solo album and hopefully it should be released soon (no one knows though.

Also I read on atease that he'll be playing some shows with Lisa Germano (part of 7 Worlds Collide):

Radiohead Drummer Phil Selway Announces Solo Tour

Apparently he's possibly using the name Boybrain. Radiohead Drummer Phil Selway Announces Solo Tour

Last year, Radiohead drummer Phil Selway sang two songs on the Oxfam benefit album 7 Worlds Collide: The Sun Came Out. Soon after, news circulated that Selway was working on a solo album in Radiohead's Oxford studio, with help from 7 Worlds Collide collaborators Lisa Germano, Sebastian Steinberg of Soul Coughing, and Glenn Kotche and Pat Sansone of Wilco.

In a recent interview with Wears the Trousers, Germano revealed that Selway is possibly releasing his solo album under the name Boybrain. Wow, Phil Selway. Maybe you should think about not using that name?

WHEW! According to Radiohead's publicist, Selway is NOT using the name Boybrain.

But terrible name or no terrible name, Selway will embark on a solo tour of the Mediterranean areas of Europe next month. Germano will open the shows and also perform with Selway, and we've got the dates below.

Phil Selway/Lisa Germano:

03-27 Turin, Italy - Spazio 211

03-28 Florence, Italy - Sala Vanni

03-29 Ferrara, Italy - Sala Estense

03-30 Bologna, Italy - Covo Club

03-31 Rome, Italy - Circolo Degli Artisti

04-01 Milan, Italy - Tunnel

04-03 Barcelona, Spain - La (2) de Apolo

04-04 Valladolid, Spain - Auditorium

04-05 Puerta de Santa Maria, Spain - Mucho Teatro

04-06 Lisbon, Portugal - Aula Magna

04-07 Porto, Portugal - Casa da Musica

04-08 Vigo, Spain - Museum of Contemporary Art

New DAS regarding Phil's new solo album and a free song download:

Greetings from Philip

Hello

I just wanted to let you know what I've been up to recently in my idle moments in Radiohead.

Over the past year or so, I've written and recorded an album which I've called Familial. It will be released on Bella Union on 30th August, except for USA and Canada, where it will be released on 31st August through Nonesuch.

If you'd like to download a free track from my album then please go to www.philipselway.com. The song is called By Some Miracle and is available now.

I'm also doing some shows and there's information about those on the website too.

Thank you x

Philip

But it was R18 with NO exceptions...that makes no sense... I've been to that venue before with my dad. But for some reason I couldn't for those shows. Fuuuuuuccckkk

I gave the album a listen...

I quite enjoyed it. It has given me so respect for Phil not only as a musician but more importantly a songwriter.

Overall I don't think the album is mind-blowing or incredible, but I think it's quite good. I feel that the song at times may be slightly boring, but that's only because of how much acoustic guitar there is and his gentle voice. Still regardless I definitely need to give it a listen a few more times to fully absorb the album, but good job Phil!

My favorite songs so far would be: Don't Look Down, The Witching Hour, and Beyond Reason.
