In places Matt Bellamy can sound like Thom Yorke. But if you ever notice, Matt has this annoying habit of inhaling before singing particular lines in a very audible way.

I've seen Muse twice and although i've thought that they were excellent live and brilliant on their instruments, I just think they should've maybe stopped one or two albums ago. There's just something souless and detached in their songs. I just don't see any significant evolution in their work in the from the last three albums.

Of course they sell shedloads of albums, pack stadiums, are ridiculously talented and successful. But I just don't get excited about them anymore.

For me, it's

Radiohead

I'm reverse from Lore. :P

And I really don't think Muse and Radiohead are similar at all.

:surprised:

Thom > Matt

Meh.. I sort of liked the first couple of Muse albums but the last two were just dreadful so I don't particularly care for them. However, their live performance is excellent.

I love Radiohead though. :wacky:

So it's Radiohead>Coldplay>Muse for me.

I don't like Muse or Radiohead

Hahahahahahaha, therefore your input is quite useless. Thanks for that, Shane.

I love both Radiohead and Muse. Muse is my #1 though right now, above everyone else.

No, you're right on Muse; I bought the latest albumn first and thought, okay, interesting. Then I bought Absolution and listened to earlier stuff. They kinda lost their direction on this last albumn. I think it could also be a song sequencing issue. Anyway....

Yes, I can see that putting these groups all together in a thread was probably not a wise decision. It's all good. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. No worries.

Oh come on it's called evolving. You have to make every new album something different, try new stuff styles, etc. Seriously, do people expect all the albums to sound like OOS? That wouldn't get them anywhere. Or any other band for that matter, so if Coldplay made all the albums "Parachutes" style, they'd get pretty boring after a while and people would stop listening to them...So The Resistance might not be a very muse-like album, but it's still part of them. It's not my favourite, but I accept it. Just like you said everyone is entitled to their opinion, but TR isn't as horrible as most people seem to think it is, it definitely made them more popular at least. So they didn't lose the direction, they're just trying out new things, and they have full rights to do that, plus it seems to be working out for them, so why not?

I can see the similarities between Muse and Radiohead as well as Coldplay and Radiohead, but only in both Muse and Coldplay's earlier albums. Even then, the similarities are minimal.

I'm not really a Radiohead fan, I only really like a few of their songs but I guess you can hear elements of their music in Muse's Showbiz and Origin Of Symmetry, and Coldplay's Parachutes and A Rush Of Blood To The Head.

As for Muse, I think from Absolution onwards, you can't compare them to Radiohead anymore. Their music really evolved from that album onwards.

I dunno, but I really don't think you can compare Muse or Coldplay to Radiohead anymore.

im starting to feel as though im the only person on this forum who absolutely loves radiohead, coldplay and muse. radiohead makes the best albums, coldplay has the best lyrics and melodies and muse put on the best live show. they're all awesome!

^^

He's also being extremely hypocritical, as the other day he was insulting other people for saying much the same thing about the likes of Justin Bieber and Lady GaGa.:dozey:

The difference is, Radiohead and Muse are clearly proper "musicians" in every sense of the word, as opposed to superficial pop crap.:smug:

That's why, although I don't really care for either Radiohead or Muse, I do at least respect what they do.;)

I do respect peoples opinions. I just don't see how someone could like muse as much as some people here do...I can see myself liking a few songs, maybe even an album but not their whole discography.

I also don't get the hype of their live shows...

And yes, they are talented musicians, they sell millions of records, they do good live shows and they make a hell of a lot of money. Well done to them for that. I just don't like their music

Also, "I wish them luck with Kid A"

^^ Have you ever even seen Muse live?

You've just contradicted yourself by saying you don't get the hype but then you say they do good live shows.

Honestly, I'm finding it extremely irritating that you always seem to go out of your way to insult Muse and their fans. I think everyone on this messageboard knows you dislike Muse, you don't have to troll every Muse related thread. If you don't like their music, good for you. You've stated your opinion more than enough times already.

Good point. There are many bands (e.g. Marillion) that have to be seen live to be fully-appreciated.

Muse may well be one of those.

The trouble is, I haven't been impressed enough by their studio output to want to fork out the cash to go and see them.;)

Well yeah I did kind of contradict myself but it's not really what I was trying to say...

I don't get the hype of their live shows being the best thing ever, but I understand they're a good live band...if that makes sense.

I've only been a 'troll' in a couple of posts in the Muse thread. Which is enough for my liking

You can't accuse somebody of trolling a thread when the name is asking what you think of Muse (and Radiohead) and then Eddie says what he thinks about Muse.

Same goes for Ivet

hmm... I dunno I like Radiohead just a little bit :P

I have listened to Muse, but they are one of those bands for me at least that I can only listen to for a few songs and that's enough for me... I kind of get annoyed/bored of their sound after a while. I did see them live (they opened for U2), and they were really good... a lot better than I expected.

I do see the similarity between them and Radiohead in that Bellamy and Yorke looks similar and have somewhat similar voices. Personally I see much more of a similarity between Queen and Muse rather than Radiohead and Muse.

Are you talking about like the show itself not the music? I kinda get what you're saying I think, but their shows are actually one of the best live acts out there imo, and I'm not only talking about music, but the graphics and special effects as well. My opinion might be a bit bias, but here's the thing, I took my mom to see Muse with me three weeks ago. And my mom, besides having some weird hearing problem where she can't really comprehend loud music (so basically at concerts all songs sound like one to her ), she also pretty much doesn't know anything about music, and by anything I mean practically nothing, so if she ever met someone like uh... say Bono I'm pretty sure she wouldn't even recognize him. But yeah, after the concert she wouldn't stop talking about how awesome she thought it it was, like I said she didn't even hear the music, but once we got home she called all her friends and started telling them about how epic the intro was, the giant balloons, the lasers and bunch of other stuff, she said that it was worth every penny, just the show itself. So I guess you can't really judge them, unless you see them ... but I guess since you hate them so much you never will :dozey: and not trying to be a bitch to you Eddie, you have a great music taste but just stating my opinion :uhoh:
