if possibly I prefer nothing.

surely, there are better things to talk about in the lounge. :blank:

no.

and that way :nice:

I tend to quote a lot, it's just nice to see what the other person wrote and have that above you while you're writing.

I need to use that hat more often though, it's really nice looking.

first one, i hate to first read the reaction and than looking back the first post.

First or second method.

But if you try to use the second method and someone posts before you finish your response, then the ^ is moot because it no longer refers back to the post you were actually responding to.

Exactly, that is why I use QUOTE - sometimes I use @ (followed by username/name of the person in question)

The hat ^ doesn't work unless you're posting directly after the intended quoted post. Some people use the double hat ^^ to signify it's two posts up, I've never seen a triple hat ^^^ but I guess that would mean it's really getting out of control and eventually we'd be starting posts with ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I dont' think the ^^ concept is fully understand. It may look like the person is just trying to make a cat.

I can't find it.

I use ^ when the post is directly before mine, and simple/general enough to where I don't need to specify exactly what part I'm responding to. Everything else I use

quotes

i like the "^" method, because i'm lazy

the old phpbb board used to quote everything including previous quotes. Which does everyone prefer?

I preferred the old one, but it used to crash a lot more (And I'd hate to see how it would cope with how there's 10 times more posts/members these days)

I don't like the whole "adding the previous quotes" thing. It annoys me.

it depends

I either put nothing there if it's the post above me or use QUOTE tags. I rarely use ^
