July 9, 201015 yr Prostitution itself (the exchange of sexual services for money) is not illegal in the Republic of Ireland, but most activities associated with it (such as soliciting in a public place, operating brothels and other forms of pimping) are illegal. I didn't even know it was sort of legal here, but it seems to be.
July 9, 201015 yr OH hai, you're from Antarctica too?? :awesome::awesome: I bet there's a 25% chance we're neighbours! :awesome: I didn't even know it was sort of legal here, but it seems to be. Reminds me about how buying weed is legal here, but growing it isn't.
July 9, 201015 yr :awesome: I bet there's a 25% chance we're neighbours! :awesome: I live with teh penguins.
July 9, 201015 yr  Reminds me about how buying weed is legal here, but growing it isn't. That is illegal here. :laugh3:
July 9, 201015 yr I live with teh penguins.Meet my friend the colossal squid. :wacky: That is illegal here. :laugh3: Gotta love politics.
July 9, 201015 yr Meet my friend the colossal squid. :wacky: :wreck: Oh god! I hate octopi/squid. :bigcry:
July 9, 201015 yr :wreck: Oh god! I hate octopi/squid. :bigcry:Aww, you're hurting his feelings. But to get back on topic, it's a complicated issue that has strong pros and cons. Prostitution is (apparently) the oldest profession in the world so it's not something you can change. It happens everywhere, all the time. Legalizing or not is an ethical problem really. If you legalize, you could support or encourage pimps, loverboys, human traffickers and more scum like that. But you can also control and limit it to a certain level. I don't believe anyone would choose for a "career" in prostitution. More often than not it's a last resort. By legalizing it you can help the prostitutes (again to a certain level). If you don't legalize it, you have no control over what happens in the "sector". While I think that prevention is better than cure, fact is that prostitution exists. Because it's not something you can change or just wish away, it's better to cure than to turn a blind eye.
July 9, 201015 yr Author No 'cause it involves other stuff like slave trade. Psh, don't be ridiculous, slave trade already exists, legalizing it means there would be regulations preventing slave trade in (legal, at leats) prostitution rings
July 9, 201015 yr And you can be a whore without breaking the law. Psh, don't be ridiculous, slave trade already exists, legalizing it means there would be regulations preventing slave trade in (legal, at leats) prostitution rings I consider it a degradation of the human body as well, but that isn't the point because cases of sexual exploitation could be protected easily just with a good lawyer.

I consider it a degradation of the human body as well, but that isn't the point because cases of sexual exploitation could be protected easily just with a good lawyer.Whether there are laws for/against it or not, fact is that prostitution exists and has existed for thousands of years. No laws, jurisprudence, social projects or whatever can stop it. I'd rather deal with it in the best way possible than not doing anything. Whether you approve of prostitution or not isn't relevant.

I know it's not, that's why i said that wasn't the point. In fact lots of people I know approve it (and use it) but legalizing would stimulate and made easier human traffixking.

July 10, 201015 yr I say no to the poll, and about illegal/legal drugs, marijuana is now legal in New Jersey! :cheesy: Only for medical purposes, though. :P
July 10, 201015 yr yes. If you can give it away for free, it shouldn't be illegal to sell it so long as no human rights are violated.
July 10, 201015 yr Author What really pisses me off is the utter hypocrisy of being paid to perform sexual services in porn being legal, but prostitution being not. LOL GOVERNMENT FAILS.
