Coldplay design woodwork for charity

Coldplay have kindly helped out our charity appeal for the Castle Howard Arboretum Trust. Chris Martin helped design a piece of art out a a piece of wood from our grounds - and then got the rest of the boys to sign it.

I can't directly send you to it here (first post!) but if you search 'Chris Martin Branching Out Charity Auction' then you'll get the details.

We're associated with Kew Gardens and are based in North Yorkshire, UK - where we maintain over 6,500 trees and plants for scientific research, conservation and public enjoyment! All the money will go to paying for essential maintenance and supplies.

Hope this is of interest to some of you.

All the best,

Branching Out Campaign

 Love it!

The concept, the actual artwork and yes, the little chickadee too, but I think I'll have to sit this one as well. :( (boo!!) For some reason, I just foresee US Customs not letting this package arrive safely to my house without some sort of major issue.

NOT that should keep anyone else in the US from bidding (especially since the proceeds benefit such a worthy cause) -- it's just I tend to have terrible luck with these kinds of things!!! :laugh3: If you're like me, live outside of the UK & want to bid, might I suggest finding out what you can & cannot import into your country before you buy...

Oh, very good point, I didn't even think about that. When I came back from London, customs confiscated 2 packages of flower seeds that I received as a gift. :disappointed: I wonder if they would consider the log a foreign plant species or something of that nature, even though it's dead.

They did, stupid bastards!

 Please don't even get me started... I get so incredibly grumpy, especially knowing how wonderful his penmanship can be when he has time & energy!!

Do you know what makes me even grumpier though?

People asking me to sign a slew of paperwork when I'm really friggin' busy. (Ummm....scribble, next!...scribble, next!...scribble, next!...You get the picture, right? Forge the rest.) Once, I honestly think I developed carpel tunnel syndrome from end of the year donor letters.

Considering the bazillion projects he's successfully juggling at the moment (LP5, Apparatjik, Pierces, antiques, personal photography thing), all the while maintaining his killer sense of style (love the green raster T from the latest pics) and devilishly handsome looks -- I'll let it slide... this time.

Next auction? Not so much. Consider this your forewarning, Mr. Berryman. (kidding, kidding)

Okay - back to business: Confiscation of dead vs. alive organic materials

Australia "quarantined" (or, in my opinion immediately torched) the lovely straw basket I got for Katie in Mexico. No problems coming from Mexico into the United States because we're technically bound to the same continent, so I never imagined it would be such a problem.

It was. They ripped the whole thing apart. Good thing I didn't store her autograph in the little basket like I originally planned. :shocked2:

I was looking at some of the other items in the auction, and 10 of them ended a short while ago. A few minutes before one of them ended, the price was almost 1,100 pounds (I don't know what the final price was). :stunned: I thought, why was it going for so much more than all of the other woodwork? Then I looked closer... it had emeralds on it. Crazy.

I'm guessing the Coldplay one won't go for quite that much... I mean, yes it has a chick acoompanying it, but that doesn't quite compare to emeralds.
