I'm sure he doesn't really mean "hate". They've never impressed me either, though.

why. they are excellent and uplifting

I've never found them to be so, personally. Same with Radiohead.;)

However, I do respect them as musicians.

i don't like radiohead so cant and wont say anything abt them:P

but muse are really excellent musicians, Matt cant write lyrics to save his life. the mood of the song is more important then lyrics when you're listening to muse:laugh3:

For me it's generally the general sound and the "hooks" which come first, followed by the lyrics and how the band come across on and off stage.

In that sense, I would say Muse haven't ticked enough boxes for me, unlike Coldplay, Keane, Travis and Snow Patrol.;)

ooh you listen to soft rock, i just like two of the bands you have in your list.

i love coldplay and i like Travis, but i think muse is an experience and may not appeal to everyone:wink3:.

so wht's your soundtrack to life.

^ all the above bands have ticked my box. :smug:

I'll have to have a think about it. I think you'll agree that Muse are a bit "heavier" than all the other bands I mentioned, so that might have something to do with it, as I've always veered more towards the soft rock/pop direction.

I particularly like what I like to call "anthems".

Coldplay, Keane, Travis and Snow Patrol have all created these.

I also like Amy MacDonald, Dido, Mumford & Sons and Marillion.

The latest band I have got into is Hurts, who have a very "eighties" electronic sound.

I have never heard anything by Muse or Radiohead that has grabbed me in this way. Hope that explains it a bit better.;)

Good for you.;)

thats true, muse don't have "fix you" or "trouble" but they do have "time is running out":P

muse are not heavy they are more inclined towards classical and prog rock. i like them coz they remind me of Queen and Pink Floyd (bands i grew up with):P

I would say Queen were more a "stadium rock" band, and of course, they created quite a few "anthems" themselves, which I loved.

Pink Floyd were very different IMO.

I just realized how perv'd that sounds

muse are a stadium rock band and have anthems too:rolleyes:.

for me Pink Floyd takes you on a journey and muse's earlier work does the same for me:smug:.

I respct them too coz i don't know of a rock band who can write something like the 3 part symphony Exo Genesis:thinking:.

Ahhh, OK, I get it now. It's uneventful, middle of the road stuff that you like. The kind that sells a lot in the middle ages men/teenagers with not enough fire in their belly market. It's a big market that one.

Please dear god tell me that you like New Order then, if you like the eighties electronic sound.

I'm quite sure you won't like Radiohead then, but here is some of their work which leans more towards your taste.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XMgyibjqgc]YouTube - Weird Fishes/Arpeggi - Radiohead live from the basement[/ame]

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdZ01my6bg4]YouTube - Radiohead - Go To Sleep. (Little Man Being Erased.)[/ame]

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQcElygQQsw]YouTube - Radiohead - Optimistic[/ame]

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12TbigLk3Vo]YouTube - Radiohead - House of Cards, Jools Holland[/ame]

I would encourage you to give each song a try. The last may be the most suited to your tastes.

That's the sort of comment that lets you down, unfortunately. Totally unnecessary, and a pity.;)

I know there are an awful lot of Coldplayers of all ages who love Travis, Keane and Snow Patrol, so I reckon you're doing yourself a bit of a disservice.

It would be a bit like me saying Radiohead seem to be trying too hard to be "cool" and that the only people who like them are clearly doing so to be cool and because they take themselves way too seriously.

I'm not saying that's the case, but it would be very easy to generalise in that way, as you have.

They produced some great material, of course. "Blue Monday" still sounds as good today as it ever did.;)

They were also responsible for the best "football" song ever.

Ok.

Track one - kind of washed over me, as did the whole of "In Rainbows" when I listened to it some time ago.

Track two - wouldn't play.

Track three - found it rather annoying, especially the vocals.

Track four - would have seen it on Jools Holland, which is the best music show on TV, but I would say I found that song rather soporific.

Generally I would say the tone of Thom Yorke's voice has a lot to do with it, as it tends to bug me and I switch off as a result.

Of course, I know some people will say the same about Chris's voice, but that's what personal taste is all about.

Haha, you can say that, I don't care. And it doesn't let me down, I'll say it to any fans of those bands around here. I believe them to be watered down completely uninteresting and uninspiring, aimed specifically for the uninteresting and uninspired. How can giving my opinion be letting myself down.

Incidentally, listen to Let Down by Radiohead.

It is much harder to get into a band when you don't like the singer so that is fair enough.

Opinion is fine. What you said came across as a bit patronising, that's all (hence my Radiohead comment).

I happen to know people on here who like Muse and Snow Patrol, for example, and I would say those two bands are completely different.;)

I like a lot of different types of music including soul, funk, dance and even some hip hop.

Just never liked anything on the "heavy" side, that's all.

If I can find it, I will.;)

It was intended to be patronising. You patronise everybody on the board

how the hell do you like coldplay then. Radiohead is a band trying to outdo itself and losing horrifically:P.

i only like three of their songs

1. 15 steps

2. idioteque

3. creep

^^ and yes thom yorke has the most annoying singing voice:veryangry2:

No more than you do. I think you've been talking to certain people.;)

I knew I couldn't be the only one who thought that.

So you admit that you patronise people?

If so shut up about other people doing it then.

And you would think I've been talking to certain people. It would back up your delusions of The Great Conspiracy.

How come you never name these certain people? You remind me of Stalin, only without the power. If I had uncovered a conspiracy I'd been attempting to get to rise to the summit of it and even spearhead it, but unfortunately I think you have made the mistake into thinking that people actually care about you.
