How Important Is Album Artwork?

Featured Replies

I'm more likely to skip past a song on my iPod if their isn't artwork for it or it isn't good.

I can't stand not having artwork.

I'm the same way! All songs on my ipod or itunes need to have the album artwork

i love this clusterfuck of artwork

Strawberry Jam sounds exactly like it's cover.

Yes. Srsly, it's scary. And Give Up :surprised:

Actually, the artwork is pretty important to me. But not something that makes me change opinions on the music. I can get extremely crazy about some artwork, like Animal Collective's People EP, and start hanging it on my walls, or drawing it all over my school folders. Hail to The Thief, Kid A, Strawberry Jam, Feels, Person Pitch, and Hvarf/Heim are probably my favourite covers, it's hard to say though.

I hate to say it, but Grey Oceans (CocoRosie) is just plain ugly.

Hvarf/Heim

I <3 that cover so much.

I never cared about the album art until Viva La Vida, and the release of artwork connected to it in the run up of the release.

I loved all the vivid , wild colours and paint splash effects, especially the heart from Strawberry Swing. I look forward to what LP5 will use.

if i'm buying an album, i care for the artist, album and cost, not the artwork.(3/10)

if i'm just looking around, yes i may care for the artwork a bit, but i'll check the tracklist first.

A lot of times it's how you can tell the genre of something, which is important.

you'll get sued for that, Bryce :P

Hahaha, I better watch where I go posting it then!

Album artwork - well, to me, it should offer something intriguing to look at while listening to the music - the artwork should complement the music, and be fascinating in it's own right. In today's world, the song is heard (radio, internet, shared CD's etc.) by someone, and then that someone wants to buy it. If the artwork is good, that enhances the experience more than anything.:hat::mudkip:

i have a perfect cover flow :D it took forever but it looks soooooo seexxaayy

Nothing pisses me off more than someone having no, or little, album artwork on their iPods...

Same.

Pardon me- I'm still learning the 'cut and paste' and it's limits! Anyhow, I did change it - some Moody Blues cover art, via Google. I think the 60's / 70's cover art was some of the best - maybe a return to that would compliment their combination of innovation and back-to-their-roots sound(?).

A shuffle? hmm... Android has something like this (recalling using one)...:inquisitive: Explain shuffle to me, and why that makes a difference with images(?)...

here, Chuck.

I don't have an android, I'm using an Apple

so basically there's no screen or anything, thus you can't see any album artwork on it! :nice:

Oh, OK - thanks!!! So that's an Apple shuffle! What goes in it - memory cards, or CD's?

Cover art: Hmm... so I need to describe it then! Aha! Well, let's see - there's an image of a face & all sorts of smaller images (knight on a horse, an hour glass, elevator buttons, etc.), somewhat minimalist, and when you turn the image, you see other things (it's a mind trick - the shadows around the horse become a spaceship image, etc.) - worth looking at if you get the chance - Days of Future Past. Plus, the cover art depicts time transitions. I just like the pretty pictures - it's like seeing into the ideas of what the music is about (or the art should at least mirror the music)..

huh...... :wtf:

well I don't know, because there's only one socket on that shuffle and that's where you plug your earphones/headphones and for charging it
