What keyboard should I get?

Featured Replies

All I know is that I want a Yamaha keyboard and I don't want it to be too expensive. So what should I get? :D

Hahhaah I was like the same.

I didn't have a lot of money so I split the price, if you know what I'm talking about.

I bought Yamaha Grand Portable DGX630. And honestly I love it and I think it's a masterpiece :D I don't regret any little thing, actually I didn't discovered any disadvantages yet.

Oookay, so it has 7 octaves (actually 88 keys) and gaded hammer standard

Yes it have a lot of sounds, 503  and pitch bend

001~ piano (I love the sound of Live Grand Piano it's sooo o.O! :awesome:)

009~ e piano

021~ organs - there are some that are very good to play fix you, especially for the second verse, when you can use "dual" function and play both cool! organ and church organ

035~ accordion

040~ guitars - for example classical guitar or overdriven which sounds really good, I love to play Chinese Sleep Chant with it

050~ bass - I love slap bass, and besides if you use split you can play bass (not only of course) with one of your hands and piano or whatever you want with the second, I love to use it for DAAHF

058~ strings - they're...just awesome.

Then you have choirs saxophones trumpets, brasses, flutes, synths, percussions or drum kits, and something about 143 and up you have a lot, a lot of other sounds.

It has a lot of functions too, and options that I actually still try to figure out :P

I don't hav enough time to write about it but I can show you this

@TheChampion: How much does it cost? 'Cause it seems like everything I want! :awesome:

I have got a beginners keyboard (i think), but i am very happy with it. It's a Casio CTK 3000, and it is good enough for me. Touch response and a lot of good functions.

But i really don't think that this is the keyboard for someone who has played for a long time, and who needs something better.

yes, it is everything You want :D

I don't know...I bought it in my neibhour music shop and it costed me 2700 Polish zlotys. I see that you're from USA so that would be 936 but You still should check because price might change depending on country...I guess so :uhoh:

Buy the one I have!

It's a Yamahe DGX 500, which is like the little (not literally) brother of the DGX 630.

It kind of looks the same and has got most features the DGX 630 has (read: it has got everything you need), but is a lot cheaper.

It's my third keyboard and I'm very pleased with it (I also did a great deal on it :p )

The thing about it is that they don't make them anymore (I think) so you'll have to buy it second hand. You can find great second hand keyboards, people that buy a keyboard and then suddenly realise they don't like playing the piano and such.

This also has the advantage that you'll probably get a really good price on it.

I bought mine for € 250 and it's in great condition.

Can't find a good video of someone playing on it, but it sounds really good !

I find that the actual piano sound on the DGX630 is far from a real grand piano. The 640 has a lot better piano sounds.

How much does the 640 cost?
