Do the people around you influence your concert experience?

Featured Replies

For example, if you're at a show and you're next to some crazy fans that are jumping around, screaming, having an all around good time, do you have a better time than if you're next to people that are standing looking bored and not having fun?

Definitely yes , it changes a lot , It's way more fun if the people around you are singing along too ...

For insance , I saw one band 2 times at 2 different festivals ,

The first time , it seems that me and my friend were the only ones jumping and shouting

the second time was everyone jumping ! and singing etc.

The second time was WAY more fun !

I thought so.

I was so happy to see Muse nothing really bothered me, but I think I would have had much more fun if the people around me were more enthusiastic. There were an elderly couple next to me, and they just sat there. :|

It annoys me when tall people stand infront of you waving camera phones in the air so you can't see :disappointed:

yeah , sometimes I wonder what those people do at concerts ...

I mean , why the f*ck would you want to go to a concert and just do nothing ? :wtf:

Then you can aswell stay home and listen to the cd !

It's the one time that you can jump and shout and go mental !

I already got really irritated by those things :P

If they're completely ignorant to anything or anyone around them, yes. I hate getting stuck beside smokers or young guys with their girlfriend. :shifty: When I went to see A-ha I got bumped around by a bunch of women dancing fanatically. When I turned to curse them I realised one was my hairdresser

most definitely. last coldplay gig was completely ruined for me because of some jerks around me.

When I went to see Pearl Jam , no one was jumping :disappointed:

It didn't stop me and my friend tho ,

We actually got 2 more people behind us jumping and clapping etc. :P

Exactly! Although I didn't stand too much at the Muse concert (I had seats) because I had just come from a band competition and I was dead tired, and each seat was a good three feet higher than the one below it; it was scary steep. :bomb:

But I did stand when I wasn't feeling scared. :uhoh:

That's awkward.

Aw, that sucks.

Nice! :awesome:

People are always surprised at me in these situations because I'm usually a quiet person but I Like to dance and sing and just generally enjoy myself while you are there :wacky:

well, they were obviously high and smoking something, which didn't bother me too much. it bothered me though when they started screaming like mad during the songs, not singing, just screaming :dozey: i should have chosen a different spot after a couple of songs, but i didn't because i was close to the stage. i kinda regretted that i didn't afterwards, though. of course i don't mind people partying during gigs at all, but that was just way over the top.

plus, i hate when people have loud conversations during quieter songs. wtf :dozey:

Yes, if the people next to me are cocks, by say talking, than the concert experience will be made worst.

And yeah, that's really annoying too. People behind me were doing that during the slow part of Citizen Erased, I wanted to rip their heads off. :freak:

I agree. At both O2 Coldplay shows in December 2008 I was flanked by people who weren't really that into the band and were virtually totally motionless for the entire duration.

There was even more to it than that, but I won't go into all the details again.

Suffice to say, the all-seater experience didn't work one little bit, and I hope the band never do it again.:dozey:

That's how it should be. The bands don't want to look out and see rows of "statues".:dozey:

also it's pure logic that the concert is better , 'cause if all the people are jumping for insance , the band that is performing will play better I guess ..

If the band sees no-one does any effort , they probably don't try as hard..

True, they feed off the atmosphere too, the same as sportsmen do.

I remember that at those particular concerts, the band even noticed the atmosphere was a bit flat, and remarked upon it in an indirect way.

If you start singing other people usually join in unless they are as you call them statues

When I saw them in colombia the audiance was MUCH more enthusiastic than the 2 shows in So Cal.

it does make a HUGE difference....

Not always - although at the concerts in question, the people didn't even know the words to the vast majority of the songs anyway, as they weren't real fans.:dozey:

Definitely.

If I Go to a concert which is a rarity

I Get all excited and learn all the lyrics through listening so many times before the concert

It isn't necessary to know every word to every song, but people who go should at least show some enthusiasm and look like they want to be there. Doesn't take much to clap, wave some glowsticks or join in with the choruses, does it?;)

Yeah but I get over excited :P

I didn't say there was anything wrong with it. Being surrounded by "over-excited" people is far better than being surrounded by zombies!:D
