Former teen idol David Cassidy has been arrested for drink driving. He was pulled over by police after they spotted his Mercedes car weaving in and out of lanes in Fort Pierce, Florida. Cassidy, star of the hit TV series The Partridge Family in the 1970s, told police he had a single glass of wine and had taken a painkiller pill. The police report said the 60 year old was 'saying while standing' after being asked to take a roadside breathalyser test. A Florida High Patrol officer had demanded the test after smelling alcohol on the star's breath. He was found to be twice over the legal limit. When police searched his car they found a half empty bottle of bourbon on the back seat. Cassidy was taken into custody on charges of suspicion of driving under the influence, failure to maintain a single lane and having an open container. After spending almost eight hours in the police station he was released in the early hours of the morning after posting £200 bail. 'He would never jeopardise anyone on the road and he would not have been driving had he not had to go to a funeral,' said Jo Ann-Geffen. 'He's never been arrested in his life before for anything.' November 5, 201015 yr I heard that on the news today. I live in South Florida and I didn't know he lived down here. Geez, I'll stay off the road if I see David Cassidy on it. He would be in trouble in jail if one of his inmates starts singing "I think I love you." For a first time arrest, he has a nice mug shot picture.
