Heartbreaking Music

Featured Replies

I was just wondering if anyone else has had that feeling when you're listening to a song and the words are so heartbreakingly honest that it destroys you. If so, share what songs do that. For me it's these because the words are straightforward but exactly what I felt.

I know what you mean...

There are songs that make me stop whatever Im doing... and just listen

and even fewer of those are ones that.. no matter what Im doing or how Im feeling.. makes me cry.

There are some that are dramatic and beautiful that I stop and listen to... but theyre the kind of sad song that makes you feel better by listening to them

Examples: (my top played songs) Fix You, World Spins Madly On by The Weepies, A Lack of Color by Death Cab for Cutie.

and then there the ones that Stop and make you cry... and by the end of the song their is no promise that things will get better... its just.... melancholy all the way through... for me these are some of those songs.

Hallelujah --Jeff Buckley

Unintended-- Muse

Song to the Siren-- Cocteau Twins

...and Hurt-- Christina Aguilera..... <THAT...SONG!!! I stop and cry every time. That song is a destroyer of worlds!

.. I'm going to mention Beach House :blank:

BUT USED TO BE MAKES ME CRY D:

Warning Sign- Coldplay , the Glastonbury version. Aaaaack.

many others but I'd cry just to start listing them !

To me any, Snow Patrol song do that (maybe because they're all written from Lightbody's personnal experiences)...but the most bluntly honest and heartbreakingly beautiful is maybe :

I love this song in any version (except Leona Lewis) but this one is just just amazing.

Hospice by The Antlers is the most depressing/shocking/sad album I've ever heard. But it's very beautiful. :wacky:

I Don't know why but this song always makes me well up

"There are places I remember

All my life though some have changed

Some forever not for better

Some have gone and some remain

All these places had their moments

With lovers and friends I still can recall

Some are dead and some are living

In my life I've loved them all"

I think that speaks for all of us.

This one is pretty fucking emotional to me

This.

Oh and how can anyone forget See You Soon from Sydney Live 2003. That one had me in tears the night before my beloved dog was put to sleep last Christmas.
