Introducing Someone to Coldplay

Featured Replies

Hi fellow Coldplayers!

I'm sure that this question has been asked and I apologize for not hunting for the answer, but I have someone that I want to suck into, er... introduce to, the world of Coldplay. :sneaky:

What are your suggestions as to which album to start with?

I was thinking X&Y because it feels middle-of-the-road-ish to me; somewhere between Parachutes/ARoBttH and VLV.

Of course, it is in the middle of those, but sound-wise, it's also somewhere in-between them, as well.

What do you think?

Just start with Parachutes and then continue with AROBTTH, X&Y and VLVODAAHF

A rush of blood to the head. The first 5 tracks blew me away one after the other when I first heard them. When I got to Clocks I was almost tripping out.

Give them a burnt cd of their greatest hits. Much more advisable than a single album.

Make a DVD of your fav coldplay videos (: or give him/her a DVD of coldplay in concert

I wouldn't start with X&Y because in my opinion it's their weakest album.

Either start with AROBTTH or Parachutes, then VLV, then X&Y and b-sides last. :nice:

I would strongly suggest AROBTTH first, then Parachutes, x&y, vlv

Actually I don't care about the order of the other albums, just start with AROBTTH. Cuz its my favorite and its so beautiful!

But I agree with the person suggesting the greatist hits cd. I got my cousin into them by secretly putting tons of coldplay in her ipod :P

Once they like them, they'll be asking for the b-sides :D

I'd go with AROBTTH. Or perhaps like howyousawtheworld said, you could show your friend several of Coldplay's best songs from all four albums.

thats true

A Rush of blood To the head, i think :nice:

Then Viva, parachutes and X&Y. :nice:

or arobtth or a mix of the most famous and your favorite coldplay songs! thats how i got "sucked" into the world of coldplay.

I'd go with the greatest hits. I'd mix what I think are the best three songs of each album with their most famous ones. So that she has the famous stuff and also stuff she never heard before, that are different (and maybe better !) than the famous hits !

Like for VLV, i'd put on Violet Hill, Chinese Sleep Chant and Lovers in Japan because those are my favs, but i'd still add VLV the song because it's well-know :)

Edit : or if you want to do album by album, i'd began with A Rush, bc that's their very best imo. Continue with Parachutes, then VLV and finish by X&Y which i find is their weakest.

A start with the most famous songs, would be good :nice:
