Help with Window Updates.

Featured Replies

Bit of an annoying problem. My computer needs to install updates and does it that when I am shutting it down (not a problem)

When I turn it back on it goes to configure it, the problem is that it always fails.

This is really annoying cause it takes 15 minutes before it accepts that it has failed.

Anyone ever have this problem?

Help would be appreciated so much!

Thank you!

Hey, can you give us a bit more details?

What version do you have? Windows 7, Vista, XP?

Is it an official version?

What exactly does it say when the update fails?

Do you have to restore to a previous state?

If you have Windows 7 - could you install the service pack?

I have windows 7 and it's an official version.

It opens on the normal window's opening screen and starts loading for 15 minutes at 0%.

Then it says "Configuration failed" for like 2 seconds and then goes straight in to the Welcome screen.

I'll try to install it while the computer is on

Did that work now?

Hope you can get it sorted.

I had similar problems with updates before as well but in the end it always worked and it hasn't happened since I installed the service pack!

Alternatively you can do what I suggested here: look up the event protocol, copy the error code and google it.

It seem to have worked. There was an error with one but it doesn't seem to be affecting it.

I might get the service pack soon too.
