Coldplay in an Alternate Universe

That is very ironic....

I thought it'd be nice to go in a completely different direction for the song called Life In Technicolor II. Don't worry, the album art is way more colorful!

Coldplay's fourth full-length album is titled: Life In Technicolor, which may have set off mass confusion. Technically the title track appeared on the Lost EP, which featured a song called Lost+ (with Jay-Z), while Lost! appeared on Life In Technicolor, which features a song called Life In Technicolor II, the band's new single.

The album's art takes it's theme from the era's singles. Though instead of song lyrics as the background in different shades of one color, it features song titles from the era (including the Lost EP, as all of those songs were being considered for the album when the cover art was completed) in all types of colors, with the name of the album painted over it in white.

The third single off Life In Technicolor will released today. The Hurts Like Heaven single will feature a radio edit of the album opener (which virtually eliminates the opening part of the song) will also feature the album version and Lovers In Japan, as b-sides.

The fifth (!) single from Life In Technicolor is being released today. Paradise also features A Message as a b-side.

As the tour comes to a close in the next few months, the band plans to release one final single from the album, with another b-side to give fans something new again before they take some time off to think about where they want to go next as a band.

The final single from Coldplay's fourth album, Life In Technicolor, is being released today. 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' is the album's closer, and a fitting end to the album's era, as the it's sixth and final single. The single features 'Rainy Day' as a b-side.

Coldplay have been in the studio since early October and they're releasing a standalone single, called Christmas Lights. The band emphasizes that the song will not be included on any upcoming album, and Chris Martin, out of nowhere, hinted that this album could be their last as a band. Martin, perhaps jokingly, said that he doesn't believe he can go on stage if his starts to lose his hair, and "at this rate, we might be getting there soon." He added, "I always thought that at 34, that seems like a good place to stop. Yeah, I'm only 33 now but by the time we release this next thing, I'll be at that point. This song itself materialized rather quickly, about three weeks int he studio we finished it, but I find that it's getting harder and harder to write songs that I feel are worthy of being put out to the public."

Back in December Rihanna was seen leaving the Coldplay studio, sparking all kinds of rumors about what was going on. A few weeks ago "Untitled Coldplay/Rihanna project" appeared on iTunes, with no one knowing if it was an album, EP, single or anything else. Today, we found out. A few things, acutally.

Rihanna is releasing a new album in June, called "We Found Love." Coldplay is releasing an album 'this summer' tentatively called "See You Soon" which the band says is more of a hint about future music plans than a title of the album, despite rumors that this is the band's last work together.

Appearing on both of those albums will be a collaborative song, titled "Princess of China." That single is being released today, as a "double-single" for the lack of a better term. The song appears in two different versions. One, a more upbeat version with a few more instruments will appear on Rihanna's album. An acoustic version will be appear on Coldplay's new album.

I am totally going to make a playlist for each album. This is awesome.

One day after headlining the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury, Coldplay announced a title and release date for LP5. August 16th will see the release of Us Against The World, a very, very acoustic album, a softer side of the band that just lit up the stage on Saturday Night. The tracklisting hasn't been released, but we already know the single "Princess Of China", released in April, will appear on the album. It's a safe a guess a song titled "Us Against The World" will also make an appearance. Coldplay didn't reveal much of anything at the Glastonbury show, and they even played the Rihanna version of Princess Of China (and were joined by her on stage, as she headlined the Pyramid Stage on Sunday).

But the news didn't stop there.

The band will tour a for about 4 or 5 weeks at a time, while taking 2 or 3 week breaks to add the finishing touches to ANOTHER ALBUM. Us Against The World will have a counterpart hopefully released in around May. They are calling it a double album, and will tour for a long while after that. They have not confirmed nor denied the rumor that this is the end of Coldplay. But the rumors are definitely something to look out for.

So does that mean Us Against The World will be the first album and then See You Soon will be the second one?

See You Soon was originally the title of UATW. It was meant to throw you off, but also as a hint that they'll release an album, then they'll See You Soon, and release another one.

The second single off of Coldplay's album "Us Against The World" was released today....and it's conveniently called Us Against The World. The band said if you listen to the two songs on the album that have been released, you'll be able to find the album's theme / sound. The single was released with an acoustic version of Lovers In Japan, a song whose original version appeared as a b-side on the Hurts Like Heaven single.

Here is the single's artwork.

The album's artwork and tracklisting remain a secret, and the band won't reveal any music until the album is released, as their tour starts three days after the album drops. They did however drop on hint as to the artwork. Jonny Buckland was quoted saying that the album was "very artsy." So, whatever that means.

Part 1 of the double album that is Coldplay's fifth album was released today. Us Against The World paints a more intimate picture of the band. Most of the songs rely heavily on the use of one or more acoustic guitars and only a few other instruments. Based on previous live performances it's hard to see many of these songs fitting in to setlists on upcoming tours, though naturally, the album's singles will get played in the live setting. Bassist Guy Berryman said the band expects to release on more single off the album, before turning full attention to the second part of the double album, due out in May.

The album's artwork is definitely "artsy" as Jonny Buckland said before. The cover itself comes from a painting by Eugene Delacroix, a painter that Chris Martin became interested in after seeing some of his works in an art gallery.

Musically, the sound follows that old-fashioned feel of a painting, and despite the somewhat-hectic scene of the album's cover, offers lyrics and song titles of hope and safety (Don't Panic, Parachutes, Help Is Round The Corner, Us Against The World, among others).

Does this mean we have to wait a year (in alternative universe) for the next one??
