He have any connections higher up the ladder? I've run into that one more than once. Usually just grit my teeth and bear it, focus on doing my job an hoping I'll get transferred or head hunted or he'll be removed. Shitty situation, but if those above you won't lift a finger, you haven't much recourse. Any outside job options?
