Will UFO's be a significant theme of the new album?

Featured Replies

I like the whole graffiti thing Coldplay has done so far. It's really cool. But I'd love even more x5 the UFO theme they've been hinting at along the way as well. Guy's really cool bass guitar sports the acronym, the Coldplay site is full of pink and blue colors, the MX paper opens up to UFO, and the sweet Live Transmissions sequence beams up a word.

Other than that though we've gotten no hint of this theme at all. Not in any of the new songs. And of course there's at least half the album we haven't heard, if not more should some of the new songs not make it. But I can't help but wonder; how will they work it in as a prevailing theme alongside the graffiti theme that's already been seemingly well established? Have they phased it out besides maybe one song? All of the new songs seem to hint at a back story but it doesn't seem related to UFO's at all (Although I can't help but think a UFO/ alien invasion could definitely be considered a "Major Minus" if they're hostile).

I know this is all speculation but I'm curious to know what my fellow Coldplay's think about this topic. No one's brought it up recently (i don't believe, sorry if I'm stealing anyone's thunder here!).

Can someone post some shots of their gear/screens with all the symbols and lyrics? Or direct me to a thread if there is one?

> I suppose I could work on the plans, but I've got a lot of irons in the fire already.. of course, it wouldn't be unidentified as such, but I think I can get a flying saucer type craft to fly and lift a human into the air. Going from earth to space is more than I have planned as of yet, although space to earth might be feasible.

One thing seems to be true - the more one makes it popular, the better the odds of it happening!;)

Well that would certainly be interesting.

I think if the heliocentric lift ring assembly were driven possibly using a turbojet engine or a light, strong electric drive powered by high capacity lithium ion batteries, it might create the necessary lift, and maintain stability with the gyroscopic motion and mass of the lift ring. I pondered the idea of turning the whole lift ring assembly into a jet engine (pilot in center), but I wasn't sure if today's materials could handle that much stress from the centripetal forces, or bearing be designed to hold up. Perhaps this is possible - which would make the craft's lifting ability marvelous.

For horizontal propulsion, I thought about a louvered jet, or louvering the vertical propulsion gases to move along the X-Y horizontal axis, and a means to compensate for the counter-rotation forces in the central crew cabin.

The idea of retractable landing pads on antenna legs would be an interesting choice, and fits better with the general mode of the crafts design - vertical lift, use pneumatically actuated landing legs, thinking this could be akin to three or four retractable antennae.

For visibility, having the crew cabin's bubble extend a bit below the craft makes sense, except for the added drag when cruising horizontally. So either that, or an aerodynamic probe to allow for the operator to "see" where to take the craft.

Anyhow, just ideas. What sort of craft had you in mind?

you have several meanings and it worked like stupid Katy Perry :(

or they research ET because they flew the flying saucer of ET and research his sound :\

I think in the right time we will find out what that means but I think we are taking the Coldplay's "UFO" to the wrong way. For me it will not lead to "Unidentified Flying Object".

(The UFO symbol as at the website is,for me, only a 'reference'. It's like talking slang, or talking in codes, something the other people shouldn't know what really means. Like a gang slang)

Maybe this UFO-theme fits into the whole topic of LP5 because its a kind of similarity. Chris Martin told some newspapers that there is a secret story about a young couple, who are outsiders. And so, in a way they are also Aliens because they don't belong to the society. This is what I think, maybe I'm wrong.

Then, I have another crazy idea. Maybe this whole UFO-stuff just means that everything which can't be explained or isn't ordinary or habitual is feared by the media. So look at some UFO events...sometimes there are just some crazy blinking lights, which aren't standard, so they call this phenomenom a UFO but the lights are just extraordinary. Related to our society it means, that if you are individual and don't do the things others wanted you to do, you aren't a habitant of earth. Its social criticism and fits into Chris Martins words that he is impressed of the White Rose Movement because he did many things which he didn't want to do.

Just my theories... :D

couldn't agree more! :D :indianchief:

UFO gets mostly misunderstood, If someone says he see a UFO everyone thinks he see "a flying thing" with Aliens init.

I also see a "UFO" once, no joke, and i dont shame myself with it because its that ive seen: something i cant explain and i know alot about the Universe and things.

It changed my view of the World and its Life.

And maybe the Album will change our lives as well, and shows us some intergalactic superior Stuff.

This is really awesome. :] I really like the connections you made and everything. That'd be incredible if this is trueee!

GUYS GUYS GUYS!!!

i think were forgetting the I <3 UFO tags we've been seeing!

Many of the UFO tags are preceded by 'I <3'

I totally see a song title, or even a lyric. If not that then i suppose it could just be a distinct theme in the record.

Thanks for your support, maybe I over-interprete it, but thats just the way I think about that... but I'm happy that you understand me (and my English). :P

It means that Coldplay are finally going to announce that they are aliens and that's why they are so friggin awesome

Hasn't anybody noticed the UFO part in ETIAW?

"And we saw, oh this light I swear you emerge blinking into, to tell me it's alright"

That to me is referring to a beam from the bottom of a UFO with an alien emerging and becoming clearer in the light.
