atease is definetly different.. but the occasional thread does pop up where there is a genuine discussion on music, not just bashing. They're also great at getting out B-Sides, rarities, and concerts.. I'm 99% sure every show from this '06 tour is up on that site, and with the YSI request thread people are constantly given little bits they dont have.. just ignore the idiots :)

And Nik, your so negative towards Kasabian because E4 showed their set at V instead of more of radiohead's set at V. The only true way to find out new bands is by seeing them live, normally supporting another band or by going into a pub and seeing them by the off-chance.

yes, some AtEasers are like you described them, but not all of them

i can understand why they don't like bands like Coldplay. AtEasers' music taste isn't based on 00's "rock", their music taste is much deeper than the mainstream pop-rock. actually, i think many members on AE like and own Parachutes and AROBTTH, but X&Y and particularly some songs on A Rush of Blood too were too mainstream and people had a feeling that Coldplay don't care about music anymore, money and popularity what is on the 1st place. and they have a point, don't they?

 

on the other hand: AtEase's Other Music is pretty much based on Pitchfork. if guys like Ryan Schreiber or Brent Di Crescenzo describe an album as awful, then 70% of AtEasers will follow them and won't even give a chance to that stuff.

but i have to admit Pitchfork is the onliest music reviews mag that i read, because 7 of 10 their reviews might be helpful and enjoyabe.

 

and also...Coldplaying isn't too much different from AtEase when it comes to music. people here dislike artists like Green Day or Britney Spears with the same passion as the AEs dislike Muse or Killers. the only difference might be that people here are nicer and have a narrow music knowledge

 

off corse they aren't all idiots,there are really fine ppl. but there's a totally different approach to the posting. for example you will be called an idiot if you listen to coldplay or muse unlike here where (well except two members) no one will even dare, cus it's just rude and un-needed.

what's even more interesting... there's a similar board, croatian one, and there's almost the same approach like the one on atease, and they're wide known for reading pitchwork. nevermind. it's just interesting.

what bothers me the most is that..most of that kind of boards expect from you to behave in a way they see the band expects you too. and that doesn't make any sense.:thinking:

i just don't like them, that's all. i just needed an example, they have a new album so they were the first who came to my mind. i could say Muse, Razorlight or Kaiser Chiefs instead, doesn't matter

 

it's not Kasabian's fault that E4 showed more Kasabian than Radiohead. i can't hate them because of that. V Fest broadcast was a part of their album release campaign, nothing's wrong with that

 

you, people who live in UK or US, might have chances to see some promising, unsigned (or signed) artists, but i don't have at all here in Switzerland. i don't want to go and see/hear some crap swiss pop or rap artists. so internet is pretty much the easiest and most accesible source for me ;)

Ian wouldn't have set this forum up if he didn't like coldplay now. on offical boards you normally get the 'admin' who pops along once a month, with a couple moderators who lack banning powers so a couple forums are overrun by idiots

that is exactly why I resigned as a moderator on the official forum. That and I was being "told" what not to post as news on my own site. Understandable I guess, but since I pay for this site out of my own pocket you know which I was likely to choose over the other.
