May 21, 200719 yr Wasn't Amnesiac released so quickly just because its songs were written along with Kid A songs? :\ How true is this? however, they do differ from each other. yes, the songs from amnesiac were written and recorded at the same time as the kid a songs.
May 21, 200719 yr They're still great in my opinion. Pyramid Song, You and Whose Army, I Might Be Wrong, Knives Out, etc....all great songs

Amnesiac was my fav before I discovered Kid A. They're still pretty close, tho. Sometimes the first one is higher rated than the latter, hehe :)
May 21, 200719 yr One should buy Amnesiac for Life in a Glasshouse. That's slowly becoming a fave of mine.
May 21, 200719 yr The songs on Amnesiac are probably individually better than most of Kid A's, but Kid A is a kind of perfect 50 minutes of sound. If you can get past Sardines on Amnesiac without getting bored, the rest is great. In Kid A the songs all complement and blur into each other, but with amnesiac there is a huge contrast between tracks, which makes it seem slightly disjointed and seem not like a 'real' album. I imagine Amnesiac was also meant just as a way of releasing those great songs without Kid A having B-sides.
May 21, 200719 yr Rhoo, I get your point, but what do you mean with If you can get past Sardines on Amnesiac without getting bored, the rest is great. ?
May 21, 200719 yr Amnesiac is brilliant as an album, I strongly disagree with what you said about it being like the B-sides throwoff of Kid A. When I bought Amnesiac I didnt know it sort of came from the same session and I thought the songs were a lot suprior to the ones of Kid A. Well, I still like the album better, but both are brilliant.

I agree, I'll never be able to hear it as a collection of b-sides. It doesn't sound like songs that just didn't make the cut. I just view it as an output of a very creative time that Radiohead was going through, maybe songs they had started but hadn't finished.
May 21, 200719 yr If they'd think of Amnesiac as a collection of B-sides, they wouldn't even release this LP in my opinion.
May 22, 200719 yr I have no idea why I dont like amnesiac,I wish I could like it,but I can't  Kid A is really so far better Imo:undecided:
May 22, 200719 yr i have to say httt is probably my favourite radiohead album. although all of them are brilliant (sans Pablo Honey - i doze off half way through every time i attempt to listen to it) by the way, i also have heard some on a friday demos, and i thought some of them were actually far more interesting than most of publo honey...i guess what they were going for on PH was the "grunge" sound that was so popular at the time, which doesn't sound all that exciting now, does it.
May 22, 200719 yr And also look at how good the b-sides are from Amnesiac....they're veeery good.... to bad they didn't make it :(
May 22, 200719 yr by the way, i also have heard some on a friday demos, and i thought some of them were actually far more interesting than most of publo honey.. I thought about that today. I Want To Know is so much better than most of Pablo Honey, and so is Jerusalem actually.
May 22, 200719 yr they're veeery good.... to bad they didn't make it :( Yeah, Cuttooth was pretty close I think.
May 23, 200719 yr If they'd think of Amnesiac as a collection of B-sides, they wouldn't even release this LP in my opinion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ta97A2IaXQM&mode=related&search= there is an interview link above where they talk about the whole amnesiac/kid a thing, why they didnt release it as a double album.and thom also talks about what pyramid song is about. there are three other parts to this interview in order below; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmhoVgDyG2o&mode=related&search= (part 2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njiT1w0dIwc&mode=related&search= (part 3) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d1maFss-SI&mode=related&search= (part 4)
May 23, 200719 yr Yeah, Cuttooth was pretty close I think. Yup, I really really like it. :) But Fog and The Amazing Sounds of Orgy weren't bad at all either. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ta97A...elated&search= there is an interview link above where they talk about the whole amnesiac/kid a thing, why they didnt release it as a double album.and thom also talks about what pyramid song is about. there are three other parts to this interview in order below; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmhoV...elated&search= (part 2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njiT1...elated&search= (part 3) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d1ma...elated&search= (part 4) Thank you for the interview!!! :happy2:
