Radiohead

Featured Replies

I used to feel that way about the whole Pablo Honey album, but I listened to it last night and was surprised that I was really digging it. I think people hate on Creep, because it's not Radiohead's best song (by any means.) It's just the first song that everyone heard. I could name 60 songs from their catalogue (at least 60 songs) that are better than Creep.

That being said, I still dig Creep. It's not a bad song.

  • Lol I haven't been here in 5 years but I decided to pop my head back in for some nostalgia. Seems like this was my last post so here's an update... I finally saw Radiohead live in Manchester in 2017 a

yeah I remember not too long ago I listened to Pablo Honey and I was like "hey! this is actually really good!"

it just gets overshadowed by the total opposite-end-of-the-spectrum-greatness that Radiohead had put out.

man what an exciting week to be a radiohead fan. first of all the shows. then ed's news saying they're working on new material and summer shows. Also today someone on at ease posted a soundcheck recording (not too good) of a new song (on citizeninsane it's the toronto/mansfield soundcheck but put together. finally a member of atease (italo) got to interview Ed!

exciting times :dance::dance::dance:

Awesome!

And Briggins made his sig and avi radiohead themed :P

oh god damn it I'm addicted to paranoid android again, and now I'm still regreting about the concert, stupid mexican press, stop making articles about how great the concert was

Its the press, I'm sure the concert sucked...would have been a waste of your time :P

you think so? then why everyone says the concert was legendary?

Because they don't want to be abused by the cool kids who'll call them tasteless pop-whores and coldplay fans! :P

I Might Be Wrong has been growing on me like never before.

there's an interview done by an ateaser who interviewed Ed. it stil isn't released (transcript or audio), but he reveals that apparently Follow Me Around is not dead and they rehearsed it like two weeks ago!

^ That is the best Radiohead related news I've heard for a long time!

here's what he said (i put as a spoiler tag in case people don't wanna know):

more bits...

they landed a couple of hours in chiclayo (north of peru) to reload fuel on their private jet. yes... peru! ed dies to come to peru for vacation. I gave him custom-bottled pisco with their names on them, with the radioheadperu.org logo and all and warned him it's STRONG. let's see... we had breakfast, yes. he had like.... cereal, soy milk, scrambled eggs+tomato, earl grey tea... I had already had breakfast back in my hotel, so I only had orange juice.

they wanted to include colombia but nobody in the uk would insure their equipment to visit that country (bad rep all over the news, sorry guys!). peru's formal proposal never got through (well, all we did was ask about our chances, no proposal was sent!). it's the agents who decide where to play, so there's no reason to be bitter about it. now, summer tour... if it happens, it's still part of the in rainbows tour. still unconfirmed. likely to have uk dates because they played in the broad daylight and people couldn't enjoy the light show hahahaha so yeah, you guys in the uk should be awake 24/7 in case any news come. didn't confirm/deny reading/leeds, poland or portugal... it's all unconfirmed still.

old songs? they don't play pablo honey because it belongs to its own time... feels "dated" now, though "blow out" is heaps of fun to play. he thinks it's a good idea to play it in rio. there's songs that get lost in a large live stage, talking about let down, SHA and DITNU. old classic unreleased songs still have some life... they just rehearsed FOLLOW ME AROUND TWO WEEKS AGO. they won't play it soon though, because it's still sounding rough. ed DIES to play "big boots". they won't let out any rarities in south america because it's a new audience, people who've never seen idioteque or street spirit. they might not play idioteque on the next tour at all. dream setlists in south america include "high & dry" and "stop whispering", right? he didn't say no to h&d, in fact, they thought about it when they built the 60-song list for the in rainbows tour. I told him about "inside my head" when I was leaving and his eyes got THIS fun.png BIG hahahaha he even did a fun.png face when I mentioned it.

they really feel like doing a full-scale south american tour in the future. he understands the frustration from countries not visited, but there's still a lot of bitterness and people saying this might be their last tour... well, fellas... WE WILL HAVE RADIOHEAD FOR A LONG WHILE. he feels the band has many years to come still. they love each other and things are doing great between them... and even if the band split up, they'd still see each other because they're like brothers. no band blog though.

about the band blog... no updates on DAS means:

- they're having a great time and don't want to break the flow by writing things down.

- they're having a shit time and things are kinda rough, so there's no inspiration to write things down.

(OH GOD I FORGOT TO ASK ABOUT THE OFFICE CHARTS!!! FUCK FUCK FUCK JUST REMEMBERED!!!)

radiohead.com is not supposed to be informational at all (of course we knew that! hahaha)

other south american countries wouldn't have worked this time around because they would've demanded smaller venues, and their current equipment is not build for that matter. maybe we'll have a small-venue south american tour in the future.

rights over their songs... they didn't know EMI was re-packing pablo honey, the bends and okc. it kills the collectors' feel to have it all packed in one thing instead of trying to collect the singles individually. radiohead's back catalogue and tapes are in vaults. currently being digitized because THE OKC MASTER TAPES ARE GETTING STICKY AND WE DON'T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN!!!! on a friday songs have no chance to be released, they belong to the band's developing process... those 6 great years of testing out stuff and shaping up as a band... but not meant to be heard by anyone. asked him about "happy song" and "to be a brilliant light"... he said those demos were leaked by nigel (powell?) himself and he doesn't mind them being on the net. same with the 1986 demo tape (he got surprised when I mentioned it). none of those songs are registered on EMI so they own the rights to them. EMI owns the tapes of all songs recorded and unreleased, but not to the songs themselves! so radiohead owns the publishing rights, EMI owns the tapes. this way, they can record a very old song, but not use an old take on it. clear?

thom was around as well having breakfast...

he laughed real hard when I mentioned people here were following mexico night 1 and we were all like "OMG THIS IS LOLLAPALOOZA ALL OVER AGAIN!"... and he did laugh very very VERY hard at that hahahaha ed almost told him about the EMI re-release while he was there, but he said "nah, I'll tell you later... yes, later" so I don't know what thom thinks about those. sorry!

he wants the band to be held in regard but not put in a pedestal, they're not "masters of the universe" and it's important that we keep in mind they're still human and that the band itself is of a very fragile nature (human!) so things can change overnight sometimes. we have to accept they can let us down, they can fuck up and it's okay.

singalongs? he LOVED them in mexico... "big voices" he said. the scotts are great too, he says. even in the cold rain they'd still sing their arses off... and he just wants people to be themselves at the gigs.

that's the bulk of the whole thing. there's more stuff to come.

ah yeah... the 15 step part, he came up with it when he was working with this friend of his who is a flamenco player... and they sampled a harp and processed it with delays and whatnot... he brought that idea to 15 step after jonny had the beat on his AS machines, some chords and thom had the vocal line and it came out real good. they did it in protools first and then they stuck it in his sampler thing.

So they were able to translate the animal noises? :stunned:

They seem to be enjoying Latin America so much.
