  • Lol I haven't been here in 5 years but I decided to pop my head back in for some nostalgia. Seems like this was my last post so here's an update... I finally saw Radiohead live in Manchester in 2017 a

Yes he does, but you get used to it and soon learn to appreciate what it adds to the music.

i love radiohead so much. :freak:

Yes, intentionally, and more on some albums than others.

Sometimes he sings an all-out song, and his voice can be very clear and very, very beautiful on those. Sometimes he wants it to become one more layer of the music like another instrument, so he mumbles or processes it in funny ways or finds something random to repeat over and over like "the raindrops"

Plus his lyrics tend to be very stream-of-consciousness at times, so it's like they do matter, but in a way they don't. I was told once that there's a very insightful O.C. quote that says something like Radiohead writes songs about the shape of a thing rather than the thing itself. If you let a song flow along, the combination of the feeling the music gives you, the way the words are sung, and what you get from the key words you can make out combine to give you the meaning of the song. If you were to sit down with a printout of the lyrics, they wouldn't always make a whole lot of sense.

good points. Plus I also sort of enjoy not knowing the lyrics because it lets me interpret the lyrics myself. For example I always thought thom was singing "pay me money and take a shower", and was slightly disappointed when I found out it was "take a shot". So i guess sometimes it's better not to know what he's saying

America shall? or .....should?

at the Climate Conference the American argues that 'shall' be replaced with 'should'

while outside there are near riots.

that is not good enough America.

Thom

I love his sarcasm

^One of my friends is over there. She got some good videos of the protest earlier today. Pretty nuts.

She couldn't get into the Bella Centre even though she has the proper passes/credentials, etc. because they gave more passes than the place can hold. So now alot of people aren't being properly represented.

someone posted this on atease MB

Got it via Twitter

if I never would have "discovered" Radiohead I would probably still be living in Cloud Cuckoo land. still kind of am though..

it's pretty hard to listen to them sometimes

What do you mean? Regarding politics or Yorke's lyrics?

well you mean the hard to listen to part I suppose?

well, sometimes the songs can really upset me especially when i've already been pretty down. Idioteque makes me feel terrible and terrified with the "bombs dropping" -beat and thom's singing. I mean they make you think about bad things happening a lot and if you think about the stuff you get depressed and lose your sanity so you just can't think about it all the time or you'll go crazy.. well i would anyway..

and what I meant about the Cloud Cuckoo land -thing was that they kind of "opened my eyes" and I started thinking about stuff.
