Hello everyone, Im new and wanted to find the meaning behind Scientist, but found no meaning, other than its about relationships. This is, if anyone even cares is what I got from this song. It tells me the story of God. He comes to us, telling us that He's sorry that we dont know how lovely we are in His eyes. He tells each one of us that He has set us apart. Hes always there, and wants us to tell Him our secrets and ask our questions. He wants us to go back to the start. He wants us to tell Him the whole story of our life. He says that not even I God, said this world was going to be easy or be this hard, that's why its a shame that any of us should be apart from Him. He tries to tear out the puzzle pieces, because where He was supposed to be placed, weve put "relationships, drugs, sports, money, and less than a perfect love" He then says that things like science and progress, the myth of evolution, trying to prove He doesnt exist, will never speak as loud as His heart. We are running in circles, chasing our tails, God wants us to go back to the start. The start of His way, where He wanted to have a relationship with us, and talk with us, walk with us, and to always be there for us to tell our stories to. Its such a shame you dont know how lovely you are, and for us and Him to be apart. Now, this was just my thought of the meaning of the song. I guess I just want to know if anybody else had an explanation or agreed with me.

Well I see where you get the God thing and specially in this line "science and progress, do not speak as loud as my heart" but I honestly do think that Chris was talking about a relationship he had or about someone he lost or just even about a moment caught in his life and frozed(sometimes that happens) Sometimes when we write things about how we are feeling or how we feel towards something or someone, it always turns out with phrases and words that when someone else reads them or hear them, they get a different idea of what you were really trying to say and sometimes the person who wrote thomes verses or phrases or words; they can't really find a way to explain what the meaning is or what they meant in certain phrases...and I think that tends to happen to Chris a lot. If you have listened to several of his interviews, they always ask him "What is this song about?" and he doesn't really know what to say and all he says is about a girl, that's all there is to talk abut...so I think even him is a bit confused of what he was really trying to say, but that's the beauty of it, that whenever someone listen to a certain song or a poem of a phrase or a verse or whatever, we all get different ideas and emotions and that's what they are about :)

well I don't know about anybody else, but that is why I like Coldplay, because I get different emotions when I listen to their songs, in fact, they changed my life to the positive, 'cause I have to say that my life isn't very good and it still isn't that nice either...but since I've listened to them and everything it's not so bad, it's not so bad :D :)

i like coldplay because of the music. i rarely pay attention to the lyrics, but i happen to know all of them :D :confused: and have favorite ones as well.

Yah, I do think that you can put your own meaning into any of the songs you hear. Different lines may have a different meaning to you, because that is what came to your mind when you heard it.

 

I also don't always listen to the lyrics. Especially with Coldplay I am more captivated with the music than the lyrics...except for some songs or parts of songs.
