Negative point it eats hard-drives, due to a faulty power-supply unit :(

 

Back to the shop the computer goes to get repaired again. :(

How does the faulty power supply make the computer eat hard drives David? Just curious, wondering what happens. I had this beast giving me troubles, so I put in a new power supply, and all's better now! Getting that fixed should cure it. ;)

What the man in the shop thinks what the power is a lack of power from the supply-unit (it tested at 10 volts dropping to 3 volts with a load, where it's meant to be 12 volts), not giving enough power to the hard-drive motor so it spins up before stalling and restarting messing up the electrics & the reading arm.

 

Remind me never to go down the HP route, my next computer will be another made-to-order jobbie from a local company, probably work out cheaper as I won't be paying for a little badge on the front, nor for the bloat-ware, nor for a big shop's overheads.

I might buy a brand new one (if i once have to buy a new one..) :nice:

Get a custom built PC made for you by a small company, better (and cheaper) than an off-the-shelf jobbie.

 

That way you can have a wish-list of what you want in the machine and the person making it takes time in selecting the best parts.

that s true!.. once i have saved enough money to buy a new one i ll do that..

 

i feel a bit insecure with my inspiron 1501 now because it is the only one i have and sometimes everything depends on a computer!!.. nowadays you re helpless lost without a computer. you cant check no emails, you can do no online-banking, cant visit coldplaying and also for studying it is very important.....

Returned one PC with new Hard-Drive.

 

I wonder how long this hard-drive will last before it gets eaten up...
