September 2, 201114 yr Yep. Sadly it's no bank holiday in the UK. Reading stuff on the old internet, you only have 2 bank holidays in England?! :surprised: Damn we're lazy in Ireland, haha.
September 2, 201114 yr We have three, I think. How many do you have in Ireland? 4 Bank Holidays...and then we have other holidays off too like St. Patrick's day, Easter Monday, Christmas...etc.
September 2, 201114 yr 4 Bank Holidays...and then we have other holidays off too like St. Patrick's day, Easter Monday, Christmas...etc. So unfair. :( Yeah it's the same here, apart from St. Patrick's Day obviously.
September 2, 201114 yr We call them Federal Holidays. Based on the post office schedule in the link we have 7 of them (the others on the list are standard holidays). All Government offices (and banks) are closed on those days. Business don't necessarily close, but some do. http://about.usps.com/news/service-alerts/2011-federal-holidays.htm MLK Jr. Day Washington's B-day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Columbus Day Veterans Day
September 2, 201114 yr Ahhh okay  Here our public holidays are New Year's Day St Patrick's Day Easter Monday May Bank Holiday June Bank Holiday August Bank Holiday October Bank Holiday Christmas Day Boxing Day So unfair. :( Yeah it's the same here, apart from St. Patrick's Day obviously. St.George's day? Do you get that off? That is the patron saint of England, right? :uhoh: I only found out yesterday why our summer holidays are so long. We have one of the longest summer holidays from School in Europe because it stems back to when students had to get off school to help with the farmer work, haha.
September 4, 201114 yr I'll be chilling on campus tomorrow...I moved in to residence yesterday and am still getting used to everything. :P
